OK, I have been noticing this a lot when I steal the blinds. Let's say I raise from the button with any 2 cards. The SB folds and the BB calls. I miss the flop, he checks, I bet and he calls. Now many players would call hoping to hit something on the turn. If I don't hit something on the turn, should I bet anyway hoping he will fold? I tried this a few times, and had very good results. Do any of you use this play, especially at 3/6 and up?

Against the right opponent, I almost always fire a turn bet. At Empire, now that it's tighter but not necessarily better play, it seems a lot of people will peel looking to hit something and if the opponent can fold, I'll bet it again. If he calls then I probably won't bet the river, he might just be calling down with any pair. It depends on what the river card is though.I've had success with this play. A lot of people call steal raises to keep the stealer honest and hope to flop something but if they hit nothing or there are scare cards for them on the board and you keep firing you are representing a lot of strength so against the right player it works. And if he check-raises on the turn you can easily fold with no pair no draw. However, I've found that some players will catch on once you do this a few times in a row after you preflop raise and realize you probably have ace high or something so I guess mix it up against the thinking players?So I guess what I'm saying is, this is good against the right opponents and texture of the board.

It depends on your opponent, the board, and how your hand relates to the board.You should be more inclined to bet the turn if: 1) your opponent will usually peel on the flop2) the board is somewhat dry3) you can easily release your hand if you are raised on the turnYou should be more inclined to check if:1) your opponent probably caught a peice of the flop and will call down if he has anything2) you have outs to improve (overcards)
