If he has an Ace with a better kicker, your playing right into his hands. You also allow players with PP's to fold their hands without even putting in a continuation bet. Betting the flop is a good way to win the minimum with the best hand and lose the maximum when you have the worst. Link to post Share on other sites

What do you do when he raises the turn? Give it up? You allow yourself to get outplayed if your willing to fold. If you call down, your losing way more bets than you need to be. Personally I think a fold is out of the question, why are you defending your blind if your going to fold when you flop top pair? Your hand is pretty good headup when you flop the best pair possible even if you have a garbage kicker. To me it's an easy call down situation, I wouldn't get aggressive because your either way ahead or way behind. I want to win the maximum when he has a weaker pair and I want to lose the minimum when he has me beat in this situation, but this hand is getting shown down unless the board gets really ugly for my hand. We are likely ahead, and our opponent likely connected with this flop. I don't mind the donk, because a lot of opponents will naturally just raise here with any piece of this flop since they raised pf. It's not the way I'd play the hand, but it's not nearly as bad as you're making it out to be.I'll sometimes do this just to vary my play a bit. You're not always checking to the PF raiser HU are you? jayboogie 0 Posted October 19, 2005 Share Posted October 19, 2005 Your not checking to the pre-flop raiser every time, but you should be checking when cards on the flop that a raiser would try to at least represent hit. I think it's a bad habit to be getting into doing this personally as better players will pick up on it fairly easily. Your also losing out on bets that the CO would put in as a bluff attempt if you bet and allow them to fold when they brick. Link to post Share on other sites
