They should never be used.If your typing something we can assume that it is, in fact, your opinion.

Bah, they can provide texture in what you type. Tons of non-completely-necessary things are in our language. I don't think you should tell us we can't use them!If you do, I'll tell you you have to use you're instead of the incorrect your above, SO THERE!

I was hoping this thread was about the acronyms I see everyone using in their posts. I've been able to figure out a few like BB and PP, but there are still some that I can't figure out. Yes, you guessed it. I am a relatively new serious poker player. I'm learning a lot lurking here and paying my dues in other places, but showing significant improvement over the last six months. Would someone be so kind as to point me in the right direction to where I can get a translation of some of the shorthand used here? Thanks and as always, good luck to all.

i think some of the harder ones for a new player to decipher are the names of all of slansky's books, which people feel the need to use acronyms for

I really can't stand people that try to correct everyone else's grammar - even more so when they get it wrong.Your - meaning "belonging to" is absolutely correct above, rather than you're - meaning "you are" SO THERE WITH BELLS ON!Damn now I hate myself too :D
If it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.

whats funny here is the original use of 'your' was in fact incorrect. "If your typing something we can assume that it is, in fact, your opinion."this should be 'you're'. as in, if YOU ARE typing something."I really can't stand people that try to correct everyone else's grammar - even more so when they get it wrong. "oh, the irony. You enumerate two pet peeves and then proceed to commit both sins in the same post.

RGP, as in I read it on RGP.It's obviously a forum, but since this is the first Poker forum I've found halfway engaging, I really don't look elsewhere."If your typing something..." is incorrectly used. "Your typing leaves something to be desired..." is correctly used. Also helpful would be all the position acronyms.UTG, Under the gunOTB, On the button (is this right?)CO. Cut-off, which is this? I thought it was the button, but I thought I saw somewhere it was one ahead of the button.Gaming sites.UB, Ultimate BetPS, PokerStarsFT, FullTiltPM, PokerMountain, can't say I've seen much on that tho'.My .02. Or is that my UB MicroBB.
Any fool can tell the truth, but it requires a man of some sense to know how to lie well.

Yes Blaze, his original use was incorrect. And I normally don't correct grammer on a forum like this. I just had to tease him since he was telling us we couldn't use acronyms like IMO or whatnot. Me correcting him was a joke which I figured people would see (though I was right!!1 It was you're not your). Hence my like smiley and doing ! or !!1Ah well. Btw, your post Blaze directly above his complaining about my correction of grammer was PRICELESS!
