akishore 0
the game is $1/$2 NL, six-handed, liveunder the gun opens for $10. he is loose, but he is a good player for the most part.it folds to my friend in the small blind who makes it $50 to go.my friend has about $175 total in front of him.under the gun calls.with the pot at $100, the flop comes J 10 5 .my friend pauses, thinks and checks, and under the gun looks uncomfortable. he bets $50.my friend thinks for a really long time, and finally says "alright, i guess i can't just call this if i'm not folding, so i'm all-in." he puts out $125.under the gun calls instantly and turns over 10 10 . my friend nods and flashes Q Q before mucking when the turn and river bring no help.after the hand, my friend keeps telling me he should have folded the flop; he KNEW that he was no good on that flop with dead certainty (i was impressed with this read when my friend was first to act). he keeps saying he misplayed it.i tell him, "no. you won a lot of money that hand, because the dude put $50 up preflop when he only had $125 left to win. you know he doesn't flop a set that often."so to all of you who try to "price them in" when you have aces or kings or queens or whatever, stop.you want to do the opposite--destroy the implied odds. it's how you make money.nice hand, chief.aseem
waldo 0
if he knew he was beat why did he reraise all-in?
WonderfulSplash 0
if he knew he was beat why did he reraise all-in?You missed the point. He moved in because he couldn't bring himself to fold and he couldn't call.

TJ_Eckleburg 0
QQ is a limping hand, hee hee.In no limit... it's really easy to overplay big pairs. It doesn't necessarily mean limp with them... just don't overplay them postflop.Like push them into a set.

akishore 0
lol, how can you guys criticize him for pushing into a set? is that a joke?he was the last raiser preflop and is first to act. how many of you have the stones to just check/fold first to act after raising to $50 preflop?my point was that the preflop raise to $50 REALLY kicked ass. it's a standard uninteresting thing, but it makes my point:the guy calling $50 preflop with 10-10 played the hand horribly, and that's why we make those big raises with big pairs, to shut off implied odds. the guy calling $50 with 10-10 lost a lot of money, since his implied odds were basically nothing (he can only win $125 more after calling $50).the focus was on the preflop raise.aseem
