OK... I am a recent limit convert. Am playing 5-10 and operating about 2.5 BB per hour at the minute. The site I play is quite basic and doesnt have PT or anything like that but I have identified one of my leaks is that I lose too much with continuation bets. Therefore if I think I am beat I am trying to let go of pots earlier. This hand stuck in my throat a litttle as, although I was pretty sure I was behind, I realise that a turn bet would have PROBABLY taken down this pot. So anyways, would you have played it any different? Is a bet on the turn here +EV or a check the right move? Incidentally I had been sat at the table only about 10 hands when this came up so didnt have any real reads on players. copilot is at seat 1 with 223.00Mc River is at seat 2 with 183.50xabirc is at seat 3 with 192.50PimpRock is at seat 4 with 389.50toyde is at seat 5 with 84.95copilot posts the large blind 5.00toyde posts the small blind 2.50Mc River posts all blind 7.50xabirc posts all blind 7.50toyde: --, --copilot: --, --xabirc: --, --PimpRock: Js, JdPre-flop:xabirc: CheckPimpRock: Raise 10.00toyde: Call 10.00copilot: Call 10.00xabirc: Call 10.00Flop (Board: Ks, 3h, 8c):toyde: Checkcopilot: Checkxabirc: CheckPimpRock: Bet 5.00toyde: Call 5.00copilot: Call 5.00xabirc: Call 5.00Turn (Board: Ks, 3h, 8c, 7h):toyde: Checkcopilot: Checkxabirc: CheckPimpRock: CheckRiver (Board: Ks, 3h, 8c, 7h, 5c):toyde: Bet 10.00copilot: Foldxabirc: FoldPimpRock: Call 10.00Showdown:toyde shows: 5d, 5h (three of a kind, Fives)

this isn't so much a continuation bet as much as it is just betting your hand, which is still likely the best hand. you have no reason to think you are behind.simply put, if you are thinking about checking the turn and calling the river, you are better off betting the turn, then checking the river. then you are in the lead still, and if the river is something great like a jack, you can bet again - plus you'll eliminate hands like 55.

River (Board: Ks, 3h, 8c, 7h, 5c):toyde: Bet 10.00 -betscopilot: Foldxabirc: FoldPimpRock: Call 10.00 -call
Yeah if he called the turn after a bet and wakes up and leads I'd prob call unless I had a strong read that this was a passive opponent.

Since nobody played back at you, I'd suspect that you might have someone slowplaying a really big hand or you are up against a conglomerate of hands you can still beat. Even though you should hate that everyone called the flop, continue to push on the turn, because a totally avoidable situation like you had could happen. Its a forgivable mistake.

River (Board: Ks, 3h, 8c, 7h, 5c):toyde: Bet  10.00 -betscopilot: Foldxabirc: FoldPimpRock: Call 10.00 -call
i think the assumption is that if he bets the turn, he doesn't get led into on the river.

If PimpRock leads the turn and the 55's don't fold. toyde is either going to bet or check raise PimpRock on the river. Imo. I say bet the turn and bet the river if its checked to you. Smash summed it all up pretty well.

if I have AK against 3 opponents, I'm checking the turn. But not with JJ.
?
oh.Bad example! There's a K on the flop.I meant that with just AK and a multiple opponents I give up on the turn.HU, I still bet. 3 way, depends. But with JJ and this board you have to bet again.

I'm not sure I get the logic there. You are letting hands like KT,KJ,KQ get a free draw when they would almost certainly call. You also run the risk of someone hitting a fluke two pair. Check raising on the turn might be the best play with AK(unless a truly terrible card comes on the turn.)

You can't check raise the turn if your last to act.

he was confused, he didnt see that a K had flopped when he said he'd check the turn.
