econ_tim 0
Quick. What are the odds of flopping a set when you hold a pair before the flop in Omaha? And what are the odds of hitting a flush by the river when you have four to a flush (and no extra flush cards in you hand) on the flop?Answers below, but try to think of it yourself first.Flopping a set is 7.13 to 1 against.Flushing by the river is 1.75 to 1 against. Why are these odds different than Hold'em. Because your hand consists of four cards, so there are two fewer unknown cards in the deck, thus a higher chance you'll hit the card(s) you need. This might be obvious to some of you or very basic info to others, but I didn't realize this until I was reading an argument on a thread the other day. Don't use the Hold'em probabilties for draws or you'll be underestimating your equity.
