no its not funny at all. I like the new gov, but he needs to calm down.If he is upset about any gambling revenue loss then he should let Mayor Daley go ahead and build a land based casino on the lakefront and one in rosemont(the town that O'Hare is located in). The problem with the casino laws in Illinois is that they need to be 9in areas of economic help, except who is gonna spend big bucks at a land based casino located on the southside of chicago. Ther is no problem if the laws are adjusted to provide financial help to depressed areas. A big trump casino on the lakefront would be amazing and you could hold a WPT event there. Chicago is a great place to be in the fall, not so in the winter or spring. There have been many bills to add four Land casinos in Illinois and two of them would be in the chicago area, one in chicago and the other in the northern town of Waukegan. putting one in Waukegan would satisfy Blageovich's demand of putting one in a depressed area(Waukegan isn't that bad, but it certanly isn't like its even close to rich either) and we could then add another great addition to the lakefront. But really the Illinois cops need to chill out. What I find funny is that many firehouses play poker and you don't hear about the cops busting those, no they bust some college kids for a uh oh real high rollring cash, $160. I have noticed a real lak of games being posted up on homepokergames.com in the chicago area becuase of this. In fact to get to some of the games they would check on homepokergames.com and bust them like that. Just really sad

Its not funny actually is kinda retarded. In the town I live in(Centralia) weekend and weekly weekday holdem tournaments were a fixture for quite a while. Then Blago the fago came through and shut em down. It seems this is happening in other states as well as IL. The biggest solution is that if firehouses bars and pubs all want to have holdem tournaments then make them aquire a small time gambling license. To me that sounds like the best option if they want to keep up with gambling revenues from these small time games. As far as the private cash game in your home or apartment. Those will continue to go on no matter if you hire a goon squad of 100,000 people to bust cards games on a daily basis. They will simply keep changing where the game is played. That is already evident in Centralia. The Poplar Place, a local bar, had been hosting holdem tournaments every weekend for id say about 6-7 months straight. The tournament director was told to shut it down and so he complied. The very next weekend the same tournament with the same director and the same people playing in it were playing in a different bar on the outskirts of town. So it goes to show people will keep playing poker for money no matter if the law tells them they can or not. Its a lot like the speeding laws. Its illegal to 85 in a 65 but that wont stop us frm pushing closer to tripple digits.Long live the poker community.Scott "scooter" Kendall

In Minnesota Senator Kleis is proposing a bill that would make poker tournaments legal in bars, along with 500, cribbage, and bridge tournaments which are already legal. There are some stipulations. Of course the bar can't make any profit, and the prize can't exceed $200. I can't say I like the cap on the prize pool, but I do like the concept of going to a bar and playing some cards....legally.Are there any other states where bills like this are on the floor?

Chicago annexed O'hare. It is not in Rosemont, but adjacent.Blago also has nixed the Ho-Chunk Nation from putting up a mega complex in Hoffman Estates. They already own the land, but evidently still need state approval to build a casino there. And he cries about the budget deficit. He needs to spend less time on the Cubs and more time on real issues.

I've heard rumors about a Casino being placed downtown. Is this strictly hearsay or somewhat truthful?

I might start updating this again.

Daley wants a land based lakefront casino, Blago hates Daley. Part of Illinois' problem is that Casinos have to be put in areas that need economic growth, i.e. shitty areas. I think if a Lakefront casino happens, one has to happen in Waukegan is the deal. The Illinois Law makers need to get off their asses and approve more casinos cause the people of Illinois certainly want them

Make sure next election to get rid of Judy Barr Topinka as well. She is holding things up big time as well. The mayor of Rosemont is loving the idea too, and that location would be awesome. It's really stupid they won't allow any of them.

I have hated Judy Barr Topinka for years, she has been one of the worst Northern IL Lawmakers for a long time
