preflop question, raising q-10 suited in big blind

average VP$IP at table is about 55%, but there are three players on the table that are 60% or over.six limps to me, i have Q 10 to raise.i was tempted, but wasn't sure if it was right.fwiw, i do believe i have an equity edge. but obviously that's not all there is to it.aseem

Nah, not out of the big blind.Sure you have an equity edge, but it's probably not all that large, and you'll be OOP the whole hand. It's kinda like waiting for the turn to exploit a larger edge IMO...(except your equity is going to change a lot more from PF -> flop than flop->turn.I usually like raising suited connectors if I'm near the button, or think I may be able to buy the button. The benefit of this is that many players will instinctively check to the PF raiser on the flop. If you pick up a weak draw (which you will often do with suited connectors) you will often get a free look at the turn. That's just not the case here.

valid points.my thoughts were mostly about not being able to take a free card.but really, in a seven-way field, even if i was on the button, i rarely rarely get a free card, and a lot of times, i wouldn't even want it (the rare cases are when i flop a gutshot specifically).still chewing on it, and i'm not sure how to balance the factors out, and how much weight to give each factor.thanks,aseem
