classic case of where aggressiveness pays off

I have extensive notes on him so I have a good read on him. AlexLucas is above avg player and I felt the reraise preflop was to isolate. TJ suited is a hand I do not mind calling a raise with shorthanded. Once they cap it, I am going to see a flop.I bet out here because I feel I have the best draw not necessarily the best hand but I also feel that if they have hands like KK, 99, QK the Ace may scare them. I want to represent that (yes even thought it was capped preflop), I do like my draw. Because its capped on the flop I decide to be the aggressor again by betting out the turn. This signals I would have raised again on the flop if they had not capped it. I do LOVE the fact they just call here, no raise here lets me know they are less likely to hold an ACE, especially since we are shorthanded and they would stay aggressive here, especially Frownz.Now the river and its a blank, I have nothing J high but I know the only way I can win is to bet the hand like I have represented it the entire time. As soon as this river card hit, I bet instantly and they both folded very quickly without much deliberation.Aggressive poker is winning poker. This is to the extreme but it shows that.

This is not a play I'd recommend for lower limit players. You simply aren't going to get people to laydown KK often enough.Against good players, I like it. Especially since they slowdown on the turn. It indicates that they don't like that ace, and may be waiting to see how you play the river. Nice hand.

Nice hand.I agree totally, most lower limit players would NEVER lay KK down here.  They would just call and payoff "hoping the Ace doesn't play".

I'm confused about preflop. I know you think the reraise is an isolation attempt, but even if it is I don't think calling 3 cold with JTs is +EV in the long run.Tell me why you disagree.

I agree, however, I was in the BB and called 2 more bets initially, then it got capped. Log run its -EV, but I knew both these players extremely well and had hours at the tables with them. I admit I got lucky and was shocked when they both folded the river for one more bet but....I am a believer that we make our own luck and put yourself into situations where you can try to do so.

Nevermind. I didn't see you were in the big blind. Not used to that format. I think calling from the BB vs. an aggressive 3-bettor is a marginal decision, but maybe it's OK since you know the players so well.
