I mainly play cash games on UltimateBet, but I've been playing the $50 freerolls on Absolute just for fun. Well, in the last two weeks I've placed 5th in one and 1st in another. This has given me $13 free to play with.My original thought was to use the money on Absolute to practice tournaments. I've only played in a few of the SNG's, but my take so far is that they basically end up being pre-flop, all-in crap shoots. The good players don't commit too many chips until the blinds are insanely high and the only move you have is to go all-in. And if you miss once, you're out.In cash games, you judge win rate by BB/hr, BB/100, or something like that. How do you judge tournaments? And what's expected? Are the SNG's worth playing as a means of increasing your bankroll? What kind of return can you expect over time?

Maybe at those buyins they are all in festivals, but not at $50 or even $25. Tight and aggressive is, imo, the proper mode of play, similar to the final table of a MTT with level chip stacks.There is a lot of disagreement about proper strategy near the money. I focus on getting in the money first, moving up later. Others will take extra risk if they think it will give them a much better shot at first.The measure of success in Sngs is Return on Investment (ROI), how much do you profit divided by your buy ins. and an ROI of 25-40% is your target.

What Cop said!Normally I only play the AA-88, AKs, AK,AQs,AQ early in a tourney, 77-22 for limping early in the game. Once blinds are at level 3 or 4 and 3 or 4 have been knocked out, I open the game up a little depending on the situation.SnGs can be a real money maker!
