Background: I prefer Omaha H/L to holdem, have substantial MTT/Ring/SNG profits. Just one format I can't beat.Stars runs $39+6 satellite tournaments to the weekly $215 (Limit Omaha H/L for both). While I cannot usually play the $215 - a format paying $215 per 6 entrants seems attractive to me ROI wise. However, I can't seem to get close and am not sure why. Part of it is varience, but I think part of it is a leak in my macro-strategy.How would you approach this format differently than say, a regular MTT.

I've started to play the $11 turbo with rebuy tournaments which gets you into the weekly $215 Pokerstars tournament.I can't remember if the $39 tournament that you mention is rebuy or not Before the break in the rebuy, it can be a free-for-all as many players go all-in with very weak hands with the strategy of either doubling up or rebuying. I try to avoid the pre-flop all-ins unless I have a very strong hand; post flop, if you make a good hand, you can typically get a weak caller who's only calling because they are going to rebuy anyways.I try to limit my bluffs pre-break since many players will call any bet with middle pair, or A-rag; K-rag if their top pair hits on the board. After the break, it becomes more like a regular MTT tournament with the exception that everyone is just trying to get into the money (e.g. win the tournament seat). Steal vs the low stacks who are just trying to limp into the last seat and avoid getting into battles with the big stacks unless you're strong - you're just trying to outlast enough players to get one of the seats. In the turbo's, the blinds get big fast so avoid limping, calling with a mediocre hand as you get hit with an all-in or big raise quite often and end up having to fold it. I've "won" in the last two turbo's at a cost of $31 each turbo (one rebuy, one add-on). Haven't had as much luck in the $3 rebuy (non-turbo) as the field is much bigger and there are less winner seats, so I've stopped entering that one.

How long does the tourney take? A little under 3 hours for qualifiers? Goal should be to get your chip stack to 6 times the starting stack. 1500 starting in Pokerstars? 9K should be 6 times. If you are at or above that mark near the Q level, stop playing hands. No point. Just fold and qualify. Even fold pocket aces.
