dank773 0
Okay, I don't have the exact hand history, but just wanted to get some thoughts on a hand from last night. I'm dealt A 3 K J in late position. 4 limpers, I limp and we see the flop. The flop came 2 6 10 . Mid position bets about half the pot, one caller, two fold, and it was one me. I'm drawing to the nut low and the K high flush, getting about 4 to 1. The turn was 9 . And mid position bets out half the pot again. Was my call correct on the flop, and should I call on the turn? Thanks-

dank773 0
Fold pre-flop? Lou Krieger's Cardplayer article says something like, play any A-3, with two 10-point cards.
Rocketwadster 0
Fold pre-flop? Lou Krieger's Cardplayer article says something like, play any A-3, with two 10-point cards.I have never read that article, but you are throwing away money IMO by playing this hand. This is a medoicre hand at best, only playable from the button, SB (at a discount), or BB (free). If the ace was suited, totally different story. You sure he didnt say any suited ace-3... :? dank773 0
http://www.cardplayer.com/poker_magazine/a...4203&m_id=65543I've found this very helpful. And getting 4 to 1 on the flop is a fold?
Rocketwadster 0
Well, he does say to play that hand when your ace isn't suited...I stand corrected. He makes no mention of position though, which is a factor I believe (he talks about it later in the article). Also, you are playing PLO8, and I believe this article is for Limit O8...maybe not though... :?
Chamonyx 0
You are in late postion so I have no problem with limping in.I like the flop. Mid position may have the nut nut draw, he may not. With your hand and position I call here in a heartbeat and may actually raise to see if he has the nut draw or not.Turn probably didn't help anyone. Depending on the players I would be tempted to pot it, representing set, and see how keen he is to stick around.Enjoy(Was Kreiger's article on Limit or Pot-Limit O8?) :-)
dank773 0
I don't think the article mentions PL or limit. On the flop I thought that maybe I should raise, I thought it was raise or call. But then again, if I knew what I was doing, I wouldn't be posting here.

IMO - there is ahuge difference...Hopefully Smash will pipe in and let us know his thoughts. 8)
dank773 0
Odds that Smash will tell me to check/fold the flop, 3:

ahosang 0
This is a marginal hand that lacks any real 3/4 potential, and is a weak high hand. Playable in your position in ultra-fishy games maybe....The thing is though that the flop stinks. This hand needs some specific flops and that wasn't one of them.
CobaltBlue 662
I'm going to say smash says fold this hand pre-birth. :-)
Sluggo 0
Easy check/fold.You only have 17 counterfeitable outs for at most half the pot with two players already in.Good luck.
JacKingOff_suit 0
On the turn, did the other caller call?
Smasharoo 0
I'm drawing to the nut low and the K high flush, getting about 4 to 1.Your call's still fucking horrible. You have ZERO outs to scoop. Fold preflop.god luck.

IMO - there is ahuge difference...I am pretty sure krieger's article is more for limit O/8....in PLO8, you definitely are looking for hands with stronger scooping potential. JacKingOff_suit 0
I'm drawing to the nut low and the K high flush, getting about 4 to 1.Your call's still censored horrible. You have ZERO outs to scoop. Fold preflop.god luck. What about if he's got A3JK with A3 suited? Would you limp at LP? If you fold almost every freaking hand at every freaking position, you are either blinded to death, and no one will pay you off when you have a real hand unless you are playing against a bunch of idiots. dank773 0
To answer your question it was heads up after I called on the flop. I forgot to post it yesterday, but the river was 4 and I scooped both halves, I was against 22xx. Thanks for the help, I guess I had slightly more than 0 outs to scoop. Sluggo 0
Thanks for the help, I guess I had slightly more than 0 outs to scoop.Only ace-high flushes count. You are playing for at most half the pot. A3c absolutely kills you here. What about if he's got A3JK with A3 suited? Would you limp at LP? If you fold almost every freaking hand at every freaking position, you are either blinded to death, and no one will pay you off when you have a real hand unless you are playing against a bunch of idiotsIf the ace is suited, then this is playable in LP only.Good luck. Sorry about that. The reasons were freerolling and 3/4ing, tell me more...
Sluggo 0
Smash is correct. All A3s in PL are pretty weak because you MUST hit a 2, low or low draw, and a high or high draw. Compounding a four outer on the flop with the other conditions to continue on the flop is usually detrimental. Even when it's folded around to you on the button or SB, playing A3 as your low is terrible because of your opponent's implied odds.Wait for A3s with 2s in them, like A23x.Good luck.
