SinPies 0
I dunno if anyone has heard about this but i came across it searching for new movies on IMDB.http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0338216/Alot of notables in there!I hope they did a massive re-write before filming.I read the script before Curtis Hanson got hold of it. The original draft was written by Eric Roth.My initial impression was disappointment. The story was fairly standard and predictable and the poker in it was awful--it needed an expert to sort through and re-write the technical details, particularly how professional players act in specific situations and tournament structure details. That said, it was an early draft and Negreanu seems to think the movie will be good. He has seen later versions of the script, I'm assuming.Drew Barrymore is poor choice for the female lead, but I never really liked her, so I'm biased. The female lead in the version I read was a bit rougher than Barrymore is capable of, from what I've seen. Maybe she'll surprise us.Also, the production company who optioned the Eric Roth script is responsible most recently for "Catwoman," New York Minute," "The Sisterhood of the traveling Pants" and "What a Girl Wants." You may think I just picked out their shitty films, but you would be wrong. If you scroll down that IMDB page you will see that Di Novi pictures used to make good movies, so let's hope they're returning to that.Overall, it doesn't look promising. I'm optimistic that they'll prove me wrong, however.
