Would appreciate some input on this hand. Last night I'm about a half dozen hands into a 3 table SNG on Party Poker. Too soon to have any reads on anybody. My hole is the Ace and Three of Clubs. Moderately interesting hand so I limp along with most everybody else to the flop which comes 5c, 7h, 4c. Pot is at 300. Now the fireworks start. 225 raise from seat 2 and then an all-in from seat 3. Pot now at 1355. I'm putting somebody on a straight and figuring I got the pot with my nut flush if a club comes up. That makes at least 9 outs twice which gives me about a 35 percent shot. All-in will cost me 915, so the pot odds seem right to me - especially since this could position me for a coast to the final table. Unfortunately, I'll also have a 2 in 3 chance of getting knocked out after five hands. Here are the gory results. What's the best way to play this tournament sitution? Is this the right place to take a stand and is this the right stand to take?NL Hold'em Trny:8911144 Level:2 Blinds (10/20) - Saturday, January 22, 22:14:28 EDT 2005Table Three-Table(221075) Table #2 (Real Money)Seat 6 is the buttonTotal number of players : 9 Seat 1: dollarless ( $1130 )Seat 2: Ringer03 ( $1450 )Seat 4: BlackjackNig ( $940 )Seat 5: DrTongue ( $955 )Seat 6: dperry1986 ( $930 )Seat 7: CRUSHERX64 ( $2640 )Seat 8: ABK333 ( $915 )Seat 9: rytron24 ( $1040 )Seat 3: snorkem ( $870 )Trny:8911144 Level:2Blinds (10/20)** Dealing down cards **Dealt to DrTongue [ 3c Ac ]rytron24 folds.dollarless calls [20].Ringer03 calls [20].snorkem calls [20].BlackjackNig calls [20].DrTongue calls [20].dperry1986 folds.CRUSHERX64 raises [30].ABK333 folds.dollarless calls [20].Ringer03 calls [20].snorkem calls [20].BlackjackNig calls [20].DrTongue calls [20].** Dealing Flop ** [ 5c, 7h, 4c ]CRUSHERX64 bets [20].dollarless calls [20].Ringer03 raises [225].snorkem is all-In [830]BlackjackNig folds.DrTongue is all-In [915]CRUSHERX64 folds.dollarless calls [895].Ringer03 is all-In [1185]dollarless is all-In [175]** Dealing Turn ** [ 5h ]** Dealing River ** [ 4h ]Ringer03 shows [ 6h, 7c ] two pairs, sevens and fives.snorkem shows [ 8c, 9d ] two pairs, fives and fours.DrTongue shows [ 3c, Ac ] two pairs, fives and fours.dollarless shows [ 4d, 6d ] a full house, Fours full of fives.Player snorkem finished in 27 placePlayer DrTongue finished in 26 placeRinger03 wins 320 chips from side pot #3 with two pairs, sevens and fives.dollarless wins 350 chips from side pot #2 with a full house, Fours full of fives.dollarless wins 255 chips from side pot #1 with a full house, Fours full of fives.dollarless wins 3600 chips from the main pot with a full house, Fours full of fives.snorkem has left the table.DrTongue has left the table.

i have been doing pretty good at sng's by waiting for awhile. Playing premium hands and building up my stack. I'd say wait until later in the tourneyment when you have more info and a better shot at taking it down. I'm sure there are people on here who can quote pot odds and such much better then me, so I won't. I like to depend less on the draw early on in tourneys.$.02 please

Throw this hand away preflop. Save your money for when you have a real hand.my $.02

I know where you're coming from but nobody's got a "real hand" until after the flop anyway. When the blinds are low and you're not getting raised ... why not take a peek occasionally?

I know there are different styles, but unless there are other circumstances, aka blind steal attempt, I would complete a SB with A3s at a full tournament table, especially early. Some people like to limp with them. I'm not one of them. Like I said, there are different styles. I'm not saying you're a bad player for limping here, I just wouldn't do it.

Im with you. I like to see alot of cheap flops early in the tournament, but play tight post-flop. Your call was bad. It's too early in the tournament to risk your life on a draw. Wait till later.

this reminds me of a situation i saw in a 5/10 NL game a few weeks ago. my friend had Ah 3s from button and he called a 3x bb raise from a guy who would raise with any suited connector from seat 5(both are profitable players at the club). so now its headsup and both have about $900-1k behind. flop came 2h 4h 5h. the raiser bets $75 (its not atypical for him to bet the pot as a follow-up). my friend called (any thought on raising here?). turn was a Qs. Raiser checks, button bet $300. Raiser pushed all in for the rest. now you have 400+ invested in the pot and about $500 to call the all-in. what do you do? situation like this makes me humbled - granted, i am only a rookie in poker to start with. i put myself in my friend's shoes and my answer as to "call the all-in or not" is dependent on how much i know the raiser. here in this case, the raiser is the type to move all-in if he thinks he will get the opponent fold. interested to hear what you guys think.

as long as you are confident you will get a caller behind you to get and pass your 2/1 pot odds. This early in a tournament the only consideration is getting value in terms of TC pot odds, and in your seat I would expect at least 2/1 by the time the flop round ends. You can't win them all, but you have to be in when you have the best of it.
