CO posts a blind of $1. 1 fold, SB calls, BB calls, MP1 calls.Flop: (10 SB) 6:spade:, 9:club:, 4:spade: (5 players)SB checks, BB bets, CO folds, SB folds, BB calls.Turn: (7 BB) 8:club: (2 players)BB checks, econ_tim bets, BB calls.River: (9 BB) Q:club: (2 players)BB checks, econ_tim bets, BB folds.BB is borderline LAG, although haven't played many hands with him. I've seen him lead with a flush draw on the flop and turn before.Standardly standard?
WonderfulSplash 0
Is there a reason to bet the river. It don't think you are folding out anything that beats you.Edit. Missed the queen, nh
screech 0
Why the flop raise?
econ_tim 0
Why the flop raise?I'm glad you asked. That is part of the reason I posted the hand.I'll let some others weight in on it.
wrto4556 0
the flop raise really sucks, imo.
Smasharoo 0
Is there a reason to bet the river. It don't think you are folding out anything that beats you. Value, obviously. You raise the flop to blow out random Ks behind you that can hurt you if you hit one of your overcards. The pot's obviously too big to fold here.

screech 0
If SB calls the flop raise, are you taking the free card on the turn?
wrto4556 0
ok, say we do raise the flop, the turn bet is pretty bad.
Smasharoo 0
also, Tim, we are going to be in LA this weekend. We should meet up.Kind of a long drive for me, 4000 miles or so.I'll give you my soon to be ex-wife;s number though :)See what you miss if you don't read General!
Smasharoo 0
ok, say we do raise the flop, the turn bet is pretty bad.Not if you're heads up against a flush draw.Which is the read here, no?If this *is* a flush draw he's played it perfectly. If it's not, he'll feel pretty silly.
wrto4556 0
the 8 is a horrible turn card.btw, im sorry(?) to hear about that. Plenty of fish in california, though.
Smasharoo 0
Plenty of fish in california, though.Yeah, absolutely. The Commerce 9/18 game plays like .01/.02.
Sysvr4 0
I like the flop raise to get it HU. I don't like the turn bet much. Take the free card... if he has any pair or any draw (and there's a bunch of those out there) he's calling on the turn.Jeff
