So I had my first real hand "confrontation" with an FCPer today. Matt and I play the same tables on occasion, but we usually stay out of eachother's way.Bodog 1/2 Limit (5-handed)Cobalt is BB w/ 2 :club: 2 :D. CO is a donk. Just kidding...CO is the ever solid Matt. No read on UTG.Pre-flop:UTG calls, Cobalt checksFlop (3 players): 5 :) 2 :D 5 :)Cobalt betsTurn (2 players): Q :club:Cobalt betsRiver (2 players): 9 :club:Cobalt betsFinal Pot: 8 BBMy plan was to keep UTG in...but he strangely folded. I was going to check-raise the turn, but then I suddenly reconsidered, realized that Matt might be pulling this move with the flush draw, and figured I needed to charge him. Finally, I don't think he'll bet the river, but he might call if the queen or 9 hit him. Look okay? And any guesses on Matt?

i like the stop n go, but I think you can cr him on either the turn or river. HOw likely is he to bet the river if you check it to him, if he is unlikely to do that then I think you need to CR the turn

if you put him on a flush draw (as did i), i REALLY think you missed some value.if you're planning to lead the turn, forget UTG and three-bet that flop. he might even cap thinking it'll get him a free card. regardless, you lead out.by just calling, you HAVE to checkraise the turn. this assumes then that matt will semi-bluff the turn, which i think is a reasonable assumption when it's heads-up.so either three-bet and lead or if you're just going to call, you have to be reasonably confident that he won't take the free card, so then you should check-raise the turn.seriously, you have a monster and you missed some serious value.aseem

Dude, aseem isn't even kidding. He is so serious.I like three-betting the flop, because UTG+1 still might call, and then the pot's ginormous.Ice

yeah, i didn't write it, but i deduced that you either had a flush draw or a mid pocket pair.if you had a flush draw, it was probably 9-x or A-x since you made the river call. otherwise, you were probably calling down with 6-6 or the like.aseem

The problem is that I put him on a 5 right before calling the flop bet. Then, a few seconds later, when the action was to me on the turn, I doubted that and changed my read. And good read, aki. He had 66.So tell me, matt. Did I miss value? :-)

The problem was that I wasn't planning to lead the turn. :-)But yeah...I guess I donked it up. Is it not okay to change reads during the middle of a hand?

Looks like a medium pocket pair or ace X suited to me (pocket pair is higher than 5 though, but less than 8's I presume)... 8)

I just wasn't sure that you'd continue to bet on the turn. And overcards? I mean, I guess I could bluff in that spot...but it's not my normal course of action.
