Choke's really good. My favorite is probably Survivor. Diary was okay...same with Lullaby. Definitely recommended.

I think Choke is his best book by far...not too big of a fan of his others...check out Bret Easton Ellis if you like that style. I also recommend Tim Dorsey, Jerry Stahl, and Charles Bukowksi. Hope you enjoy.

He created Tyler because he needed Tyler-because Tyler was capable of doing things he wasn't like vandalising and being incredibly cool. What the narrator couldn't do was act like that, so when he shot himself, it was such an extreme act that he no longer needed another person in his subconscious, because he realized he could do anything.And Survivor is my favorite, by far.

If that is an original thought I give you credit, very imaginative guess, but I still don’t buy it. I might (buy it) if I hadn’t already read the book, which has such a powerful ending, that even the slightest change would be a huge mistake. If you’re familiar with the book, you’ll know what I mean when I say the only good reason for any deviation from the book was to keep the principle alive, and the less sophisticated audience happy.

I didn't read the book, but I thought the ending of the movie was pretty obvious, just as Patricnz wrote. Nothing imaginative about it.One of the things I liked about the movie, was how Tyler was coming into creation through quick clips a few times throughout the beginning of the movie. Easier to catch by pausing the DVD at the right spots.

I read Choke a few months ago, and I really enjoyed it. I would also recommend Bret Easton Ellis if you like that kind of style, start with Less Than Zero (yes, that same 80s movie is based on it). And just because he's great, I'd always recommend Kurt Vonnegut.
