Brodeur is important enough to the success of the Devils to command the top allowable salary. His qualifying offer from Florida was a little over $1.8 million and he rejected that.The other player being taken to arbitration by his team is Alexander Korolyuk of the San Jose Sharks. I said that during the lockout following a 73 game season where he won 25 of them. He got his payday after a 75 game season where he won 35 of them, and showed he was worth the coin with a 76 game season where he won 47 of them on his way to second place finishes in voting for the Vezina and the Hart Trophies. It wasn't as much of a prediction as a statement that he hadn't done anything yet to warrant that kind of money as at the time his last batch of yearly statistics were fairly comparable to Marc Denis'. The next year, he went out and staked a claim as a top-tier starting goalie, and he got paid accordingly. Link to post Share on other sites
