filling up on the turn w/pocket 7's

Sorry, couldn't figure out how to work the hand converter, so here's my best effort to rewrite the hand history:Blinds are $800/$1600 w/an ante of $125 (this is late on in a tournament)Hero: 7 7 Preflop:3 players foldOpponent1 raises to 5500Hero calls4 players foldOpponent2 callsFlop:K 8 K Opponent2 checks. Opponent1 checks. Hero checks.Turn:7 Opponent2 checks, Opponent1 bets $3200, Hero calls, Opponent1 callsI decided to slow play my boat to try and get action from opponent2 who i didn't think had much of anything at this point.River:4 (a blank)Opponent1 checks, Opponent2 bets $7000.what do you do here? Opponent1 is short-stacked and opponent2 just barely has me covered.do you call, do you push it? could you possibly fold a made hand like this?thoughts anybody?(mind you there are 60 players left at this point, and i've already finished in the money [this tourney paid 200 places])-RRS

i'd think you have to push - you are in the money and this looks like the perfect time to more than double up. you only have so much time to earn chips.i dont see much danger cept pocket 8s and KK (which i wouldnt even bother counting)AK KQ KJs are more likely..He might have AA, QQ, JJ, TT...all of which gave you a free card. Punish the mistake.

In fact, I am a bit curious why you checked here.That was a reasonably good flop for you - and in position.

i didnt raise the flop because i felt at this point i was already beat. the check from the preflop raiser seemed suspicious; almost like he was slow playing a set of kings, so i took the free card to see if i could possibly fill up on the turn (which i did).had i raised the flop, it would have been easier for anybody slowplaying their set of kings (namely the preflop raiser) to re-raise me out of the pot then and there so i gambled and took the free card.any other thoughts on this hand?thanks for the replies btw-RRS

Well i dont mind your thinking that you were beat.He did give you a free card and you took it.btw a set is when the guy has 2 pocket cards and 1 on the board (like A45 when you hold AA).trips is when the board is K8K and someone has AK.a set > trips in theory because the set is better concealed, tho in pure hand ranking it is the same.
