after reading some other posts here i got to thinkingassuming that you got first on all 5 games that you played you would have risked $1064.10 to make $3000. that is $967.50 in buy ins and $96.60 in rake. (all of the buy ins + all of the rakes) you can insert risk reward percentage here ( i forgot how to turn this into a percentage) if you made 3rd in round 5 you are actually losing money $264 to be exact that dosent seem like a great deal to me.now if you win a regular 1table sit n go you get 50% of the pot $10=$50; $100=500 etc so wouldnt it make more sence to start at a $5+.50 get first $25; sit in a $20+2 get first $100; $100+10 get first $500 3 steps to win 500 starting with the same $5 risk= $137.50 to get $500 now if you place less than first 2nd place=300 and 3rd=200 still bucks up and if you get less than 1st in any other steps you can rebuy into next lower step or start over again and i was thinking about getting into the steps thing too but, now not a chance!!!
holy cow those "steps" sng are a bad deal

i understand what you are saying BUT...aren't you still playing with people that typically only play $5 s&g not going to be as good as the $20, $100, and so on...again i understand what you are saying by winning these you are saying that u actually could be winning bigger buy in s&g..am i right?but isn't it kinda like a tourney? u risk $5 to win so much? you have to win ur table ever time but really u still outlasted the same amount of people for a bigger payout...NOW i could be way off and if i am can u restrain from dipp'n me in a volcano? i would love to hear ur rebutal...

sorry i was refering to this post from another stringLooked over at Prima to find out exactly where the money goes in these "Rounders" tournaments. Here's what I came up with: Round 1 Buy-In: $5 + $0.50 10 players ($50 prize pool, $5 to Prima) Top 2 players move to round 2 ($50) Round 2 Buy-In: $25 + $2.50 (or Top 2 from Round 1 or 3rd from Round 2 or 5th from round 3) 10 players ($250 prize pool, unknown to Prima) Top 2 players move to round 3 ($225) 3rd player gets in round 2 again ($25) Round 3 Buy-In: $112.50 + $11.10 (or Top 2 from Round 2) 10 players ($1,125 prize pool, unknown to Prima) Top 4 players move to round 4 ($1,100) 5th player get in round 2 again ($25) Round 4 Buy-In: $275 + $27.50 10 players ($2,750 prize pool, unknown to Prima) Top 5 players move to round 5 ($2,750) Round 5 Buy-In: $550 + $55 10 players ($5,500 prize pool, unknown to Prima) 1st: $3,000 2nd: $1,200 3rd: $ 800 4th: $ 500 Total $5,500 As far as I can tell .. if you win your way from level 1 to level 5, the only "vig" you pay is your $0.50 .. unless I'm misreading something there. People who buy into rounds greater than 1 will pay based on the round they enter, but assuming that everyone starts at round 1 and wins their way up, they each only give Prima that amount. Then again, I could be completely misunderstanding what you are saying. CF

in my version the highest level you achieve is $100+5 from what i have read so far frm other posts (not from actual play!) $100 sngs are not that much more difficult ie: 100 games arent 10times harder than $10 games. and in my version the $100 game cost you $5if you can place in the $100 game you are bucks up woo hooi just came up with this theroy after reading other postsoh andthe real pros generally direct buy in to the top level of the steps so that competition is gonna be ferocious

that is very intersting but it does seem you can get alot of play for only $5 if that is what your looking for and at same time win 3000! again i'm not saying it's some great deal but i can see the appeal in it and look at it this way there is no reason to worry about how much prima is making off of you they are going to make money not matter what you play atleast this way u risk very little for alot...just my 2c

This debate has gone on on the past 2 days SO Let me "try" and sum it all up.Good: $5 into $3k, amny people willing to try this out,50 cent 1 time vig by player, & $5 players and their skill level(for the most part)Bad: Site makes a ton of $$ on this, vig is taken out of prize pool EVERY step, & $5 players and their skill level.Yes you can make better $$ for yourself by playing sng's and you can take the $$ any time you want to BUT there has to be tons of people willing to continually put in the entry fee's (at the bottom level) to ensure the vig is taken out later for those who get lucky enough to make it. Also if you dont care that the site is making TONS of money because all you do is put up your $5.50 and try to win.I mean it makes sense if I can win 1 time out of 540ish times, and still show SOME profit, albiet a VERY small one for your time we're talking pennies. ($3000/$5.50 = 545ish)All this reminds me of the rake in a low limit HE game at a casino, 3+1 or 4+2 is a lot in small stakes games but if you can consistently win and get people to buy in to the game often (so they can pay the rake, it can be a good investment)My descion is to try it out a few times and see if I can win at the consistently, maybe invest 40 or 50 bux to get a feel and try and turn some quick big profit. You make the choice for yourself [/code]
