Well, my parents don't really consider it a JOB since Im just sitting here at home, mobbing up "their" space. They've staked me in quite a few MTT's, always watch me and know that im a good player. I think if I were 21 and could go play at teh casino they would think differently... they're just mad they cant have sex as much as they woudl like. I swear. Can't count how many times they've tried to give me a $20 and tell me " go sit at the park for an hour" :shock:rofl

Yea....my parents have no clue. I'm from an Asian family and they hold ultraconservative values, especially because one of my cousins lost his shirt due to the stock market and gambling in Atlantic City (roulette). There's an ironclad rule of no drinking/drugs/gambling in my house, and I guess it's kind of sad I violate all three. And considering my parents are the snoopy kind who will go through my mail/bank record/phone bill, I'm very glad I can stash all my winnings on Neteller.

I guess I should consider myself lucky - my mom has been dead for 10 years and my dad lives in Montana . . . Oh yeah and I am pushing 50 so I guess the question is really moot.Look, all you wipper snappers, just remeber that the worst thing you can do is play online (or anywhere else) and lie to them about it... Quite frankly, I would rather hear from my daughters about their poker habits (or any other habits) from them - not from a friend, someone else's parent or God forbid, the police. Actually when it comes to poker - they limit themselves to second guessing the celebrity poker tournaments on Bravo - they won't play me.You might be really surprised how much leeway you might get (even from those "conservative parents") when you let them know what the hell you ARE doing (which implies that you AREN'T doing somehting else if you are smart enough to get my drift).Oh, also, just so you know, if we meet up online - I promise NOT to turn you in to the 'rents!!Cheers!!

pay your own tuition one semester. when they ask how tell them poker. they'll be happy.if you can't do this, keep your mouth shut.
They say poker is 50% luck and 50% skill. I say poker might be 100% luck in any session but it's 100% skill over time.

My Parents had a real good idea how much I played, but it still floored them when I said."I'm moving to Vegas..."Yeah, That'll get some reactions from the parentals...
"Here are my rules: what can be done with one substance must never be done with another. No two materials are alike. No two sites on earth are alike. No two buildings have the same purpose. The purpose, the site, the material determine the shape. Nothing can be reasonable or beautiful unless its made by one central idea, and the idea sets every detail. A building is alive, like a man." - The Fountainhead.

My parents know how often i play. Its the reason they didnt force me to get a job for the summer while i was home. I think my dad wants me to become a pro someday haha. Honestly though once i told them and showed them the money i was making it was so much better. My dad even helped me on my taxes and helped me manage my money.

i go to the ohio state university and played online poker for a job during the school year (because i couldn't work that many hours at a "real" job due to classes) and told my parents about it. my mom didn't care at all as long as i was making money, my dad was skeptical just because he thinks a job means you have to break your back at it and hate it. they both didn't want me doing it for a summer job since i can make more at a "real" job working 40+ hours a week (i'm not quite that good at poker) and "real" work experience is good since i don't plan on playing poker for a living for the rest of my life.

My parents were kind of surprised when I casually brought it up one time, but they let me do whatever I want with my money and they trust me to make good decisions.

haha thats awesome..yeah i dont see that happening anytime soon... my parents know i play poker but i dont think they fully trust the online sites... just as half the people here. i know my dad thinks its a game of luck and we have talked about it several times about how poker is a game of odds and math...and i dont care particularly what they think as id play either way.. i just feel they should know that i do play as much as i do

As a graduate of the School of Alcoholism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I'd like to point out that part of our curriculum was learning how to use this "shift" key to make a capital letter, which obviously comes later at the ohio state university.

Why? The best that could happen is they are happy and nothing changes. The worst that can happen is they ride your ass continuously and then you bang your head against the wall every time you hear it because you realize you did it to yourself.I would just not say anything.
