Just because the online world is what it is and something like that is possible with just about any company online, I would recommend that people just start up an extra checking account to use with whatever online service they use. Its easy and it will keep something like that from really taking away money you need. Its definitely what I did, the hacker can take the $20.00 or whatever in there that I had to open the account with but they definitely aren't getting at my real money.

It all depends on the bank and your account status. Most banks should not charge anything for going from checking A to checking B. If they do, go to a different bank. I don't pay any fees* due to the total ammount of money in my various accounts. I also have a seperate debit card for online purchases tied to my second checking account. That way all my online monies come out of only one account making it easy to track all my online activites.Chuck* I do on occasion have to pay ATM fees for using out of network ATM's. But when I do i'm normally out of my banks coverage area and typically can talk them into crediting my account the couple of bucks the other bank charged me. It doesn't always work, but most of the time it does.

As chuck mentioned, it depends on the bank and the type of account. I've always been able to do it without a problem and without any fees/charges. If your bank does charge you for whatever reason and you really love the bank so you don't want to switch, you can always just find another bank that will let you open up a "free" (ie no fees/min deposit) checking account. You won't be able to transfer money back and forth online, but you can always just write yourself checks and cash into the other account. With all the banks out there, you shouldn't have a problem setting something up to where you can set up an alternate checking account without having to pay for it.
