ChrisOfSpades 0
seems that a lot of the discussion here stems from online play. myself, i've never made a deposit online. when i play online, its just play money.so, the questions:do you play as much live action as you do online?does your online play differ from your live action play?can you apply the same general rules and strategies, or are the two drastically different?which do you prefer? Mattnxtc 0
i can 4 table online..i cant do that live...that right there is reason enough to play online...live i cant find many people who want to play a limit cash game...so i play online for thatplayin just 1 table that maybe gets a hand in once ever 5 minutes is boring...so i play online to avoid that...granted u do lose physical tells online..but if u play by feel against a bunch of fish who dont know how to play you learn tells that way. akishore 0
if by "live" games you mean casino games and not just home games, i think that live games are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay softer (notice how i can't stress that enough).i've played live casino games a number of times, not too many, but enough to get a feel for it. i wish i could do it forever in a soft game. honestly, i would be much happier playing just one table of $10/20 live than five-tabling $2/4 online. although it takes much more patience, the payoffs are much bigger, the people suck so much more, tells are abundant, etc.aseem
Crg35 0
I have to say I love live play. I play twice per week. I also play online for a few hours a week.A lot of people talk about losing tells from online poker, but I consider betting patterns tells. How much someone bets, how quickly or slow people play, how they react to your betting. I think it is a little tougher to get used to, but once you do it helps your live game. That is why I think successful online players can be just as successful live.Whe you mix reading betting patterns with physical tells its like you can see their cards. bdc30 0
You can't beat someone if they always call. It's simple math.Yes you can, as long as you, yourself are not ALSO always calling. This, sir, is why you wait for hands that are +EV, and pushthem, knowing that the donks will call you down. This is the fundamental reason that poker is profitable. You WANT to play with people who will call you down. 109suited 0
I play 10/20 in AC as much as I can. The games are extreeeemely soft. Just to give you an example, I raised with KK utg. It ended up going to showdown on a board of J527Q. I got 4 cold calls...3 of them went to showdown. One showed down J2, another A5o, another QT. And it's like that AAAAALLLL the time. Granted, I lost that hand, but good lord casinos are fantastic.
LPY2005 0
I prefer live play to online just for the social aspect. I agree that the action is not as fast and since you can't play as many hands per hour typically it is less profitable. I, on the other hand, make more $/hr live because of the extra reads/tells. I get a bigger rush from it. Because of the additional reads/tells live poker is a more complete form of poker IMO. Unfortunately, good live games are few and far between unless you live next door to a good casino. Thank God for the internet to get me through those tough times between live games...lol. wrto4556 0
lately ive been playing live games as much as online. They're both a lot of fun.Online you get to see more hands/hour (more tables, no dealer) which is awesome if you play for profit. Also, you don't have to tip the dealer which is extra nice. You can sit in the comfort of your own home. Get too drunk to drive and not worry. whatever. But, online can kind of get old because you're just clicking buttons.Live is a whole lot of fun. You can socialize and get physical tells. And, imo, its fun to actually muck your hands and throw in your chips. Unfotrunately, you have to tip but I think free drinks take care of that.I think the best part about live play is that you can find higher limits. Also, the games are generally softer.all in all, I like them both. Ive started to play 3 hours of each a day.
