This is a hand from the recent 100k on Paradiseyou're in the BB with 11k in chips blinds are 300/600, you've got K9 off suit, middle player limps (know nothing about his play) late position limps and SB completes. Flop comes down KJ6 rainbow, SB checks you check (with the intention of a check raise) middle limper bets 1200, it's folded around and you raise to 5k, MP calls!!the turn is a 3. Two questionsWas the check/raise a good idea? How would you play the turn and river? Thanks

you don't even have 20 bb to work with, I'd just bet out about 3/4 of the pot.a pot sized bet PF wouldn't be a bad this either, depending on your opponents.

I think it's a decent idea.1. They fold to your representation of real strength2. They call and you probably need to get lucky on the turn or you'll have to fold to a bet.3. They re-raise all in and you are screwed.Maybe it's not the best idea, but could keep your opponents guessing. Unless, or course, you waste a ton of money and bust on soon after.

I don't particularly like the c/r. In an NL tourney setting, I generally wouldn't try it without K-J (for two pair), or better. If he's got the K, he's likely got a better kicker than you do in which case he's not going anywhere. The other problem is that when you c/r you really should be firing out at the turn as well. Even if you had c/r'ed to like 3k which would have been more reasonable IMHO, you would have had to throw another 3k+ out there on the turn.... That's over half your stack committed to a pot with K-9. I just dunno. I would have just bet out with a pot sized bet on the flop. If I'm raised, I fold, if I'm called, I'll bet 3/4 of the pot on a blank turn, and work from there.
