I was playing a NL HE tournament last night and heres what happened...Theres 10 people left. I'm the chip leader with about 8,500. 2nd has about 6,000. 3rd has about 4,000. Its pays top 6. Blinds at 50/100.Would you have just posted and folded?
Hey, I don't have all the answers in life. To be honest, I've failed as much as I've succeeded, but I love my wife, I love my life, and I wish you my kind of success.

How much does the top 6 pay? If making the money is your goal then you could only play top 10 hands. If you want to win, you should continue playing the same way; it's worked for you up to this point.

Yeah, pay-out structure definitely can come into play, depending how top heavy the money is being distributed.Still, as the big stack, I'd continue to play whatever game you used that got you there and try not to change it too much since its obviously done well.

I never post and fold unless I'm horribly short stacked in some game like Omaha Hi/Lo and I want to squeak into the money without the temptation to play a hand.Who knows, you could takea more decisive lead. Besides, I like to go into heads up situations with a huge chip lead....

I don't like to post and fold. As the chip leader I like to take advantage of the other players trying to squeek into the money. This is where you can build your stack without much resistance and have a real chance to make the big money spots at the top. By the time you are down to 10 people in a tournament that pays top 6 you should have a good idea of the other players tendencies. You should be able to identify the players that aren't going to defend their blind and lean on their short stacks when ever possible. I would only play with people that could really dent your stack if I had the goods. This is where picking up those small pots will really help you later.

You could go out in 10th place if you blind yourself away, while the other 9 keep playing and stay in.

i would def play here.you are a high stack on the bubble... is there any better time to be a poker player?? i dont think so. you can take pots from all of the short stacks whenever you want... they are the ones who should be debating post/folding.
