What the proper way of making a deal in an online tournament? I was playing a 3-table PokerStars SNG the other day and make it to the final 2. We played heads-up forever, and so decided to chop the $ evenly since it was dragging on and we had equal stacks. The other guy just told me to post and fold, and he would transfer me the difference afterwards. He kept his word, but I was wondering if there's a better way to make deals. If he hadn't kept his word, would I have been able to get the money from him by contacting support using the chat as evidence, or is that not binding?

Send a message to support@pokerstars.com with the tourney # and we want to make a deal in the subject. Then, either you all sitout or just keep trading blinds around until support contacts you in the chat window. They can then put the tourney on hold while you all make a decision. Then they will divey up the pot accordingly. You will still have to complete the tourney. (It is really a fun watch when a deal is made, because everyone plays wide open)ZenBrothers[/quote]

Your mileage on different sites may vary. Some sites, FullTilt in particular, seem very much against deals of any sort and have gone so far as to ban people citing colusion. My experience is that most sites other than Stars don't mind you doing it but won't go out of their way to help you do it the way Stars will. If you're planning to make deals you're best of playing those tourneys on Stars.

I play mostly PLO/8 $30 SNG's online. Many times...like just this AM...I get heads up with an experienced player...and it drags on and on and on. Finally it degenerated to the J853 all in phase ! :D Had we been able to split...take $120 each...we could have saved ourselves like 45 minutes.So...while I certainly don't play to split...maybe it's time to reload on PS.:think:Thanks for the heads up ! :-) [/b]

I'm not saying it can't be done elsewhere but all the testimonials I've heard say that Stars is great at accomodating requests to facilitate and enforce deals. If anyone else knows other sites that offer this assisstance please post. And, unless something has changed very recently, do not try doing it on FullTilt.
