How would you have played it? I didn't want to scare any flush draws off by raising the flop, right? Should I have waited for the river to raise?Paradise Poker 1/2 Hold'em (9 handed) converterPreflop: Hero is MP3 with [Ah], [5h]. I'm raising the flop here and betting the turn. The only overcall you are going for is the CO and you won't scare off any flush draws. Make them pay to draw dead.

Preflop: GoodFlop: GoodTurn: AOKRiver: FineNH IMHO. On the turn there's already been a bet and a call, so you are generally sucking both of them in for an extra bet when you raise. Even if it's checked to you on the turn, I'd bet. This is a fairly draw heavy board, and they'll likely call for one.I don't think waiting for the river would generally have been the more +EV play here. If they are in fact on a draw, and miss on the river they won't call you.

What are you hoping to accomplish with a raise? Win the blinds/posts? 8)

If you call the flop, the turn could easily get checked to you. SB may get scared with a weak ace, and BB could check the flush draw.I'm raising the flop while I still can.

I think maybe he meant limping as opposed to folding PF. And yes, it's generally standard to limp pf with A-x suited from MP or later. As far as raising the flop, if I was the last to act, I may consider it... but the CO is still in the hand, we don't want to push anyone out, and, MOST importantly, we absolutely don't want them to check to us on the more expensive street. If we raise here they will almost certainly check to us. BUT... if you were in the SB with a random Ace (or a random 5 for that matter), and were betting into this field, and no one raised you, wouldn't you bet again on the turn?In a field this size it's likely that someone will bet on the turn before it hits you. I'd rather give em a chance to improve on the turn, and push a bigger equity edge at that point.

Don't listen to my horrible advice. The way the hand was played is far better. By raising the flop we will likely drive out the player behind us, and slow down the action for the rest of the hand.By checking the flop, we may get an overcall behind us. On the turn, I'd say there's a better than 50% chance that the SB will lead again. Even if he doesn't, we don't give up that much because we have position and can bet.

I'd go ahead and raise on the flop, but that's because I am a beserker on the flop, raising the monsters helps further confuse the other players. If you aren't a LAG, wait until the turn to raise, if you play hyper-aggressively anyway then go ahead and jam the flop.
