I'll put it as simple as possible. Straight pot odds are what is in the pot and what you must call vs the chance you will have the winning hand. Say there's $8 in the pot and you have a 1 in 3 shot of having the winning hand, calling $4 and less is justified by pot odds because 4/12= 1/3. (The 12 is the 8 + your 4)Implied odds let you count money your opponent is going to bet on the next round of betting, but only if you are pretty positive that he will bet it. This works much better being in position. You take their bet on the next street and add it to the current pot, then find out the pot odds, which is obviously a lot easier to do in limit.

Bear check out a thread I started in here called "Is this play worth it?" It deals with some advanced Pot Odds, Implied Odds, Position and EV.
"Here are my rules: what can be done with one substance must never be done with another. No two materials are alike. No two sites on earth are alike. No two buildings have the same purpose. The purpose, the site, the material determine the shape. Nothing can be reasonable or beautiful unless its made by one central idea, and the idea sets every detail. A building is alive, like a man." - The Fountainhead.
