I have a question. Since I'm only 17, I can't play online so I play primarily tournaments in home games. I was wondering... how do you pick up on tells you give off? I've become recently aware of one tell I give off, but I'm sure that I give off multiple tells. How do you find them and eliminate them? Also, betting patterns are obviously a way to get a pretty good read on a person. When I have a big holding in a board that isn't threatening, for example, having a set with no flush or straight draws, I tend to slow play them. But aside from that, I bet fairly big when I have top pair and I bet smaller when I have bottom or middle pair. In terms of strategy, how do you more experienced players switch up betting patterns to make it harder for other players to put you on a hand? Thanks in advance.
tells: physical and in betting patterns

switching up is kind of difficult ive foundi try to bet/ raise a different amount for different hands every time i sit downexample, i might open for 3 times the BB in middle position wit JJbut, im also capable of makin the same bet with 78 suitedthe play wit the jacks i would do most of the time , 60-70% to attempt to mix it up, i would limp in wit the same jacks, same position, the other 40-30% of the timewhile the play wit the 78 suited i would make 20-30% of the time, the other 80-70% i might limp, or even fold, its all situational of coursei could drop countless examples, basically u need to mix up all aspects, the cards, your bet size, your position, the amount of times u do the same play

was playing a game tonight, mainly for fun, but still for money. Heads up with a friend of mine who is relatively knew to poker, when this hand came up. I looked down at a K6o.. not a spectacular hand, but heads up, i think it can work, if not, i can outplay him. He raises 3x the big blind, and i called. The flop came 89K. This was a good flop for me, but with his bet pre-flop, i thought i was up against ace king or so. To test the waters, I bet about 1/3 of the pot. He raised me the same amount. but something wasn't right about his raise, it felt weak, like he had big cards, but missed the flop. so i calledthe queen came off on the turn, and i was ready to let my hand go, fearing a straight, maybe 2 pair. But he bet again, and again, something seemed wrong. So I called. Then (pointless story, i know, but heres the tell part) on the river, which was a 2, he says "all in".I asked him to count it, and he kind of pretended to count it then stopped, as if to say "im not really going to count it, because you're not going to call" .. again he seemed weak. so I counted the chips, then made my own stack of how many chips it would be (i had him covered).. and he started making some really obvious tells.."thats about 11 dollars... let me show you what that looks like" and he started stacking up his chips to make the stacks bigger.. then he said "thats a big part of your stack" (was only about 1/3 of his stack).. and from that, i knew i had him, i called. "Dammit... i missed my straight"thats my tell story for the day.
