I was playing in a $10 buy-in pot limit hold-em MMT and i was getting critized for playing a A 4 and an A 7 to strong preflop. raised to the small pot (15/30 blinds raised to 75) and it was called around to the flop. I was short stacked most of the time so i thought playing these hands would open up my opportunities a little more. What would you do?

Either call the BB in late position, or fold.

Ace rags are a good way to get knocked out of a tournament fast. If you are going to play them though, I think raising isnt a bad idea to get other people off of similar hands. Be careful when you do hit a dry ace on the flop multi-handed too, I have learned that the hard way over and over
One day ill win one of those MTT thingys

First off, are we talking suited or not? If I recall, all Ax suited are positive EV. They are not bad, but just as long as you realize what hands you are playing for.A2, A3, A4, A5, are only going to get you action if you are beat and are never the nut straight. If they are suited then you are only playing for the nut flush which is a very small probability. The only way you are going to win is by checking to the river to middle pair or someone with a worse kicker or two pair. Playing A and a low card is basically only looking for 2 pair if not suited, and nut flush if suited. Other than that you had better fold to any big bet because you are probably outkicked, or holding the wrong end of the straight. To put it succinctly, I will only play suited Ax in late position and only in NL play.

I will try to limp in with Ax but i never play it strong unless i flop two pair with it, or if i flop an ace and i feel i can put my opponent on a pocket pair other than aces obviously. I will never stand a raise with Ax pre-flop. And only in NL. Never in limit unless i'm on the button or in the blinds. And i still proceed highly cautiously.

If you're going to play them, push all in with them.Calling with them is about the worst thing you can do.
