every weekend i usually play a NLHE, .25/.50 blinds, 10$ buy-in cash game. My strategy is to play tight and try to steal pots when im in position. Yet, im down about 10$ every time i play. Am i using the correct strategy? If not, please help me out.Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

The blinds stay the same for the whole tournament?

That's a horrible tournament setup. The blinds should steadily increase and having the BB= 1/20th of your stack is way too high to start. You should start off at like 1000 chips, and start around 10/20 for blinds and increase them every 15 minutes, then you will get some real tournament experience.

Its more or less a cash game. We can buy back in and cash out. I really don't know why i labeled it as a sng... i need to fix it.Sorry for the confusion.

It's just diffrent. It's not that horrible. You start at 20X the BB so there's quite a bit of play before you become worried about being blinded off because the blinds never increase.

if you make it 4X the big blind preflop and get called, a pot sized bet on the flop would make you invest a little under 3/4 of your entire stack. There's no breathing room at all.

There's no breathing room at all./shrug I guess. You get to that point in nearly evevry tournamnet anyway. It's not often you're 20x the BB for the whole thing.I'd imagine people will be less inclined to raise 6X the BB to open when it's half their stack.
