yesterday at my little tourney, we get to the final table and for some reason the dealer insists on fondling every bet that goes out. I've asked before, please do not start counting my bet out or touching my stack unless someone asks, "how much is there", anyhow I'm in the big blind and the the button limps in and the small blind folds, I look down at Kh, 10h, and go all in, the button starts himming and haaing while the dealer starts destrying my strategically stacked chips, to make it even worse he chips up my bet so now it looks like a tiny weanie little stack. After seeing my little teenie stack he calls, for almost all his chips with the A,8 off. I was not happy. It seems to me that the dealers must be getting trained to chip up when possible which makes sense, but i like my 100 dollar chips and just might like to make it 2300, insteade of 2500. I've tried to explain the situation but they really don't seem to understand my grief. so for all you dealers out there, leave my stack alone, it is placed and stacked just how I want it. If someone waqnts a count well o.k. , but don't color my bet up while the guy is deciding what to do. Ya I floped a king and he rivered the ace, otherwise I would probabnly never have wrote this.

are you sure he didn't call because he saw you getting nervous about the dealer counting your stack?

never thought about it like that, good observation. The one point I like to make is that I wasn't real nervous considering this was a 35 dollar tourney, I would probably use the word flustered, which I imagine could be seen for nervousness.

I'm not trying to knock you here, just curious. Do you believe the physical appearence of your chip stack gives you an advantage as to whether or not he would make the call? If this is true, you would be implying that he would be more willing to call a bet of a single $500 chip, but would fear a bet of 6 $25 chips spread out in front of you? Personally, I don't care how you put them out there, I can still add and would base my decision on that. At any rate, it sounds like this guy was on the fence about calling anyway with the humming and haaaing. I'm guessing you ran into a relatively poor player who felt Ax is strong at any time.

I think there's some psychological advantage to throwing a bunch of chips out instead of one.

For the intial purpose, possibly, but only against weak players in my opinion. I believe he said that the dealer colored them up after he already entered the pot.
