About 10 years ago I used to be a low limit hold'em regular in the Biloxi, MS Poker rooms. All the regulars used to refer to 92 as montana banana. The only answer I ever got as to why is because "those are the only types of banana's in montana."I haven't heard this since. Has anybody ever heard 92 called that? If so, why?

Here is what I saw on one website:

In hold 'em, 9-2 as one's first two cards. Some say that the 92 refers to the number of the proposition that legalized poker in Montana; others have conjectured that it is called that because bananas will grow in Montana before that hand makes money. We have not been able to confirm either contention
I tend to like the second portion of that.... humorous :D

Thanks~The second one does have some logic to it.Funny that its regular jargon in the south, but have never heard it in the NW.

This is really old but I figure I'll add a bit too it. All of the older poker players I've played poker with here in Montana say that it's because the hand is as likely to win as bananas are to grow in Montana. However when I have played in other states they will say it is because of the proposition to legalize gambling in Montana. I have my bet on what the older Montana poker players say but it's one of those things that we will most likely never find outwww.playingpokerinmontana.com
