good play? bad play?

After about 4 hours of play managed to reach final table of MTT. 150 or so runners.6 players left. Blinds 1500-3000. I have 15,000. Average is 30,000. Chips spread evenly except 1 huge stackI am on the small blind with 6h 7h. 3 players limp so I decide to see a cheap flop. Flop comes 4d 5s 7d giving me top pair and straight drawsThere is now 15,000 in the pot. I think for a second and make the decision to go all in figuring I'm happy if everyone folds and have something if I get a call.Big blind calls and everyone else folds. Unfortunately BB has 6 3 for a flopped straight and I get no help. My question is a) should I have played inthe first place and B) Was the post flop play good or bad? Should I have checked or bet less? Was I destined to lose all my chips in this hand after the flop?ThanksDeck

My question is a) should I have played inthe first place With a few limpers, it's worth a shot, Remembering that you are looking for a nice little two pair, trips, or a good flush/straight draw in order to continue with the hand. A little pair isn't gonna get it done in a multi-way pot.B) Was the post flop play good or bad? Hmmm... I don't think it's a bad push. You have both the pair and a OESD, so you have plenty of outs to the best hand, even if you don't have it yet, and obviously picking up the pot up right there isn't bad at all. Should I have checked or bet less? You are comparatively short stacked. You could have made a smallish bet, if you plan to fold to a raise. But I think standard practice is to push, since you won't really be able to play the turn or river if you make even a 1/2 pot sized bet.You could have checked, but then you are giving free cards to anyone with K-9, Q-J, etc. A good bet here will/may push out those overcards for you, which I think is absolutely essential.Was I destined to lose all my chips in this hand after the flop?Yup. What about going all-in pre-flop? The limpers have shown that they do not have anything strong (unless they are trapping). You are a relative short-stack here, so push-em in pre-flop and see what happens :wink:
