and don't raise on 4th street. there is no good free card play that can be made in stud as the boards can change. I'd also fold the opening hand to be honest. I don't like calling a complete with someone showing a 6. They most likely have a high PP. ALso notice that someone also has a higher heart flush draw. even more reason to fold

Agreed. Fifth would be a call only if you were certain that your flush would be good if it hit (since with all those dead spades, you're only about 3.5-1 to catch another spade by the river). That's not the case here; villain-B more than likely has a very live draw to an A-high flush (or possibly has a flush already).I think cold-calling 3rd is the biggest mistake in this hand. With two dead spades, you're roughly 4-1 to make a flush by the river, so you don't have odds to chase the flush alone, and your hand has absolutely nothing else going for it - no high card strength, a J is dead, and even the 4-5 straight cards are dead (not that a two-straight is worth much of anything anyway).

I don't love the call on thirds street. But, if you are in the hand, lets continue. Your raise on fourth either means that you hit two pair, had a large pocket pair to start, hit a set, or are on a flush draw. Either way, you HAVE to bet on fifth street. Checking is the worst thing that you can possibly do. It shows total weakness in your hand. You are essentially advertising that you were in fact on a flush draw.

I don't like the cold-call on third street. 2 spades already showing (for our flush). A jack showing (for our high card). 2 sixes, a three, and a 7 showing (for a possible straight). What do we have going for us here? :wink:

Steve,Betting 5th seems ok - do you then fold if B raises? B called two bets on 3rd after bringing-in, and called two cold again on 4th, so I'd imagine on 4th he's got two pair, trips, or a 4-flush, given how live the hearts are (although this depends on the opponent; some people will play some amazingly bad hands at $.50/$1).

the call on 3rd street is pretty bad. Look at all the spades out there. Also, you're 2 straight with 54 isnt very live.I muck that close to 100% of the time.
