say you have 5000 chips and there are 15k total chips and a 1k stack goes all in on the bubble (4 ppl move to the next round). Everyone folds to you and you have 10 3. you are not getting pot odds to call but would it be tournament +EV to call and hope to get lucky so that you move into the next round? I ask because i saw this kinda thing in a supersattellite to the wsop i was watching and i'm wondering if it is correct.

i dunno, but i've seen this a couple times while watching a supersattellite. One time the bigstack who called won with crap (and got his seat). In the chatbox he said "sorry, but i had to call" so i wonder there is some sound mathematical logic to his call.

Depends on where the blinds are at, your stack compared to the other stacks, how many more chips you have to put in to call (are you in the SB, BB) which is why the blind values come into play.In this situation, it sounds like you're probably the biggest or 2nd biggest stack as you have 1/3 of the chips with five players left. 10 3 o stinks, if you're in the BB and blinds are at 200/400 or 300/600, then I'll put in an extra 400 or 600 to call to try to knock out the other player.

If you;re big stack, sure depending on how much it was to call. WIth a medium stack and it being 1/5 of your chips, I wouldn't.

with 10-3, I wouldn't risk 1/10 of my stack. In fact if you had enough chips that it wouldn't hurt your stack to call, you have enough chips to sit back and let the smaller stacks hack away at each other. Find a better spot.
