I'm asking this question more out of boredom and curiousity than my own need as I am still playing SSHE poker. But for Chris, Steve7Stud, Kdawg??, and those playing at higher limits I have two questions for you:1. For those of you who have climbed up the stakes ladder, at what point would you say that you saw the biggest change in the quality of play and need to adjust SSHE to more advanced techniques. 5/10? 10/20?2. What would you say is the single biggest change in strategy at that point? I know that reading opponents becomes much more important, and the ability to change gears... but anything else? Thanks fellas. Just figured it's always quieter here in the Strat section in the AM's and I've been wondering about this stuff lately.EDIT: I'm mostly curious regarding online play... so I guess you need to take the ability to read tells off the table.

Of course I can't say what it is like to play high stakes, but it is interesting to read the hands at 2+2 from 30/60 or 100/200. There was some 100/200 hand where a guy was heads up on the turn with the nuts, six bet it, and the villain caught a miracle on the river for a straight flush.

As always Smash, your eloquent prose is quite enlightening... but, care to elaborate a bit?

As always Smash, your eloquent prose is quite enlightening... but, care to elaborate a bit?Small stakes is mostly about value betting and pot odds. Larger stakes is a war for the blinds. You could fold every blind in the average small stakes game and still do fine. In a larger stakes game, the play mostly revolves around attacking and defending blinds. This changes the game a great deal.

Is the Blind battles inherent in bigger stakes games, a primary reason folks will suggest playing 6 Max tables before moving up because the too have more emphasis on blinds?

Ive played 5/10 3 times in my life (maybe 18-22 hrs), and right away I noticed that as smash said, the blinds are really important. I would tend to play aggressively and raise almost always when I was the button (alternating w/ raisng int the CO) at first I was winning the blinds uncontested, but then they were putting up a fight, thats when I limited my raises to suited connectors, facecards, Ax, any pair etc.. I dont know much about this limit, and I'm basically ok in limit holdem at best, so I dont know if this is the right play here. I will say one thing though, and a lot of people didnt agree with me (although they did say it was an iteresting aproach) when I posted about this, I felt more comfortable playing 5/10 than I did playing 2/4 and 1/2, this is because I was playing a tighter and more aggressive/creative. I feel that I can vary my play more..but not too much. In many ways I found 5/10 to be similar to 2/4, there are still plenty of donks.

The beauty of playing at live games is that the donkish behavior tends to persist all the way up to the 10/20 (or higher).

Are we talking about limit hold em? I assume that we are from what I've read so far, but maybe I missed something. Let me know if it's Limit or No Limit.

More good input from "7CardSteve"... lol.I think he means limit... although I'd be interested to know what your opinion of mid-high stakes no limit cash games in Vegas are like.

Yeah... sorry Steve, I mean Limit. I think your last post regarding NL was very good read BTW.

Well one thing to keep in mind, is that online games play a bit bigger than b&m games. Having said that. I don't have much experience playing lower limit games online. As much as I'd like to chime in here. I just don't see myself adding anything other then speculation.
