ummm.....bets. I really dont think this is a difficult one. I'd say bet/call, but definitely worth a bet. Shouldn't he be raising the turn with a J short-handed, I would be. When you say that he's new to short handed play, does that mean that he plays too few hands?

That's not the only thing, he chases draws too hard, he is a call-down guy so it's easy to not semi-bluff him on the river. If he calls a turn bet he's calling river bet 90% of the time etc... He's an easy player to read.Okay so betting out is easy... If he raises on the river..3 bet or call?

I believe i put down bet/call. He might be raising a J, but really i'm not going to risk another 2 BBs to find out.

To find out what, if he has the last 5? Not many hands beat you here. He would've reraised JJ, AA, and KK PF I think, even if he is new to short handed. I think he has a sole J and wanted to see a safe turn before raising you. I don't see any reason not to cap this river, although I'm sure there is one or two, but I see more reasons to go balls to the wall.

I think bet/call.He capped the turn could be JJ, could be AJ could be 5x, could be 4x, could be J5.You beat a lot but lose to a couple hands. As I have said in other posts like this. Missing out on winning or losing 1 BB in this spot isn't going to kill you. If you aren't sure even a check/call here wouldn't be out of the question.edit* I didn't see that the turn wasn't capped. In that case I say jam away at the river.

I don't think it's a 5. I think a 5 caps the turn. I don't think it's JJ, AA or KK, as all those should have reraised PF, and if nothing else capped the turn. I'm going all out on the river...

the odds of him having it, especially shorthanded, are very slim. I just can't go around thinking someone has quads. I'm guessing he did have it though, or that's what it sounds like. Without having played with the guy and your description of how he's been running, etc, I think the most likely holding is a J.

i think bet/call is the best line but i suck at lhe
What hands is he 3-betting with?
considering you have position he can't 3 bet, unless he's a total donk you're getting raised by a 5, J, QQ, KK, or AA. Maybe he was raisingA :club: K :D on the turn though and will just call a bet on the river thinking his AK high is good.

Hands he's reraising the river with: AA, KK, JJ, any 5, any J, maybe even a 4. Possibly pp's 10-10 down to 6-6. The way he played the hand I'm ruling out AA, KK and JJ, and more than likely any 5.

I think we 3-bet this river in our sleep. I do, anyway. Why not? There are plenty of hands that suddenly decide they're best (or tied for best) on this river. Considering the way he played the flop and turn, I think this is a pretty easy 3-bet unless he's very passive on the river. Even then...Ice

Thats kinda what I thought... Ofcourse he did have the Quads I'm just re-assuring that it is correct to not give credit for them in this situation... Been a rough day for me.

I've noticed that you've been testy. I just want you to know that you have my support. I'm here for you, JayJay. When I get down, I always go to www.philhellmuth.com and read as many "hand of the week"s as I can. Pure comedy.CheersIce

Looks like a clear bet/re-raise situation on the river to me. If someone has quads, well they are gonna get paid off from me in that situation every time. Maybe that's a leak???

no offense, but when i hear this it makes me sick. the way the hand was played out, quads are a definate possibility.A loose/vag raises when the board pairs. It usually means they hit trips.

Of course they are a possibility, but so are a lot of other hands that a NEWB would be raising the turn on. Quads only happen once in a blue moon (unloess you are playing on Carribean Sun Poker, where they happen 4 times in 15 minutes, but that is another story).
