i laid down pocket kings on a board of JT8 after I was check raised all-in a few days ago. Two hands later I mucked top two after the guy I was playing turned his flush.I ended up winning the 30 person sit-n-go, so I'd say they were pretty good laydowns.
Congrats...now take the winnings and learn to read. Although if your SnG was televised, I take it back.
Priceless.......... 8)

I think Arieh might have bet it.....but I dont think he would call Murphy's allin unless he was pot stuck
I disagree.....as aggressive as Murphy was playing...I don't think Arieh opens himself up to being put to a decision by betting that river card...I think he checks behind Murphy (In that check raising scenario) and shows down his flush....

I too believe a Murphy river bet of 1/2 the pot would be appropriate and yet small enough that Arieh would have to call. He would have been a nut to check the best hand on the river and hope Arieh bets it... That could have been an easy check check for Arieh.

i agree. Plus a big river bet is always fishy and there is a good liklyhood he would of called. esp if he put on on making his flush, which he did. It was a good bet and an even better laydown

Ever heard of Poker Night Live? It's on the new British Poker channel and televises online poker games on a 10 minute delay.

Arieh made a nice laydown against Jon Murphy when Arieh hit his flush on the river, however it paired the board thus giving Murphy the boat.
That was a good laydown, although pretty standard. Murphy bet 1.9 million into a 500k pot or something. It was a mistake on John's part that let Josh off the hook, really. A check would have induced a large bet from Josh.
The pot was far greater than 500k. The preflop raise was 100k, so with them 2 playing, that's 200k (not even counting blinds and antes). post flop bet was 200k, and the turn bet was 300k. You have a 1.2 million pot at least.

Marcel Luske,"No, i'm laying this down. You have pocket kings.""No i had ace/king""No, you had kings"who was that? Arieh?can't remember, and at work, can;' tlook it up
I think the other guys name was Truong or something. He's from Canada. I agree with you.... That was an awesome laydown. Or maybe it wasn't necessarily the laydown. But Marcel calling the cards.
yeah, i laughed my ass off. at that. he's the best to watch.
I'm not 100% sure on how it went, but it was closer to:"Your Kings are good" and then the lay down."You don't believe I had Ace King""No, you had Kings"I'm not trying to be picky, or prove you wrong, but I use that line when messing with my buddy's at my home games: "Your Ace King is good"ANYWAY...that is my favorite, just cause Marcel was entertaining in the exchange. And what Nick said up there.

The Arieh one is great considering how quickly he folded.. but my favorite part is he folds a king high flush and Lon Mcheron replies with "...and John Murphy continues to play great" completely disregarding one of the best televised laydowns.
"I got a gus hand...'

Lon should stick to scrabble. He knows nothing about either one but I know less about scrabble so there's my reasoning.

The Arieh one is great considering how quickly he folded.. It was actually edited, i remember him saying somewhere that he spent closer to 5 minutes contemplating his decision.

"and Arieh sniffs out the full house"OK Josh did in fact sniff out that he was beaten. But i'm wondering if Josh may have put murphy on the ace high flush instead of the boat.i dunno just a thought. but yea, the fact that he laid it down and was so confident that he even showed the laydown. Stu-mungous!

How about Esfandiari laying down 3 Qs to Fischman's bluff in the NHUPC?

In the US Poker Championship (Taj) Toto Leonidas made a good laydown against Joe Cassidy. Toto had made two pair and was making small bets to build the pot up. On the river I believe he made a small bet or checked the river but Joe Cassidy came out with a descent bet maybe half the pot after hitting trip sixes and he layed the two down. The pot was fairly big at that point and Toto had a lot of chips. Not amazing but still a good read that protected his chips.

The marcel luske vs david troung at 04 WSOP is slightly different than what you guys are suggesting here.Troung raised preflop with KK, luske i think 2 to his left re-raised with AJ not AK... Troung then reraised... Luske then says something in the lines of... you have kings i guess my AK is no good... but he only had AJso no not really a good laydown at all more like an easy laydown

The Lon Mcheron shot was great -- ANY bet but all-in would have been better
"So you're Sicilian, huh?"

You're right he didn't have AK. You're also correct saying that Truong raised, Marcel re-raised, then Truong raised it again. Marcel was directly to Truongs left.
