RISEorFall 0
Preflop: Bomb Droppin BadAss is UTG with [9c], [9d]. Bomb Droppin BadAss calls, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls, 2 folds, Bomb Droppin BadAss calls, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls, CO calls.Flop: (11.40 SB) [9s], [9h], [7c] (5 players)BB bets, BB folds, Bomb Droppin BadAss calls, MP1 calls, CO calls.Turn: (10.20 BB) [Jd] (3 players)Bomb Droppin BadAss checks, MP1 checks, CO bets, Bomb Droppin BadAss calls, CO calls.River: (22.20 BB) [Qc] (2 players)Bomb Droppin BadAss checks, CO checks, Button bets, Button calls.Final Pot: 34.20 BBOk so well I got all the $$ in i could, but i actually did have a question or two about this hand. Should I have raised PF? I wasn't really sure if 99 was strong enough UTG, and I hadn't been doing so hot the past couple hours, so I limped in.Should I have started to wake up on the turn to make sure CO doesnt just call and I get more $$ in? She went ahead and raised anyway but I was worried he wouldnt and i was pretty sure Button was in for a cap.Or is this stuff too trivial to even matter?
idiotbocs 0
yeah, raise preflop.post flop is perfect. Everyone didn't even have to raise until the river.
Rocketwadster 0
My personal preference is to not raise UTG with nines, but to limp with them, at a full table. Any less than 8 players, its a raise for me. Tens yes, nines no. That's just me though.

Rocketwadster 0
???Why is this? Just Curious is all. With a full table, nines just dont have the mustard in my experience to be raising UTG. I'll gladly limp in with them and then call a raise if said raise occurs after me. With the number of possible overcards ratio'd to the number of undercards, they are my personal cut-off. If they don't improve or are subjected to at least 2 overcards after the flop, i'm usually done with them. This is Limit though in case that makes a different in some peoples eyes (I don't play NL very much).
JaysonWeber 0
I never used to raise w/ 9's UTG but the only reason I did is it's profitable in the long run, or so I hear ;)But it also adds another hand you can raise profitably with so for the players that are paying attention, it gives them a little wider range they have too put you on.I believe raising 99 UTG is correct in almost any scenario in LHE... But that's an extremely extremely blanket statement.

I agree that many of the theorists advise that 9's UTG is a raise, I just can't bring myself to do it.

Rocketwadster 0
I agree that many of the theorists advise that 9's UTG is a raise, I just can't bring myself to do itDon't feel bad. Â I don't raise TT in really lose games full of cold callers. Glad to hear that I am not the only one that doesn't always follow the masterminds. The low-dollar Limit Hold-em games have plenty of exactly those types of players.
JaysonWeber 0
I think 99 and TT in any real low games is kinda whatever you feel like doing because donkeys draw and that's just a fact.I look for too many places too raise though, so RAISE.
idiotbocs 0
99 and TT with alot of donks has a large equity edge. Not raising would be goofy.
Smasharoo 0
I didn't say I was right. It's just easier.I like easy. Poker is easy now. I try not to make it hard unless there's a good reason.Like someone might fold or something.Do you have an equity edge with 99 in a game where 4 people call two cold? Almost certainly. Does the raise have value? Yes.I still don't raise it.In a worse (tougher) game it's an easy raise.I raise it in 5/10 UTG. But I raise 77 in 5/10 UTG too.

idiotbocs 0
K4s has a whopping 2% equity edge. This, smash, is where you pass up on a small edge now(preflop) to expliot a larger edge later(post-flop). But im sure you already knew that. Im serious.
