Not sure that is considered a clark...isn't a clark to induce a better hand to fold? This guy called him down. :?

THE CLARK IS A VALUE BET
Can you please try top put into words your interpretation of Clarkmesiter's Theorom please, as I seem to have it all mixed up. I've gone back and re-read a bunch of posts that apparantly had the theorem in use (which I agree that all but one did), but only one had the same scenario as this one (where the guy called on the river). I don't go to 2+2, so I only get bits and pieces of stuff like this, and I honestly thought that the theorem was to bet (or raise) on the end with a good hand to make it look better than it was (ie. 4 to a flush on board when you have three of a kind) to get the guy to fold, not call...

ok, ill try and explain it rather in depth.RULES:1) You are heads up2) You are out of position3) The fourth of a suit comes on the riverYou should bet/fold any two cards you planned on calling with.See, when the 4th of a suit comes up, no matter what you do it is going to be -ev. But, by checking and calling, players check behind with non-flush hands that they would have called a bet with. However, they will bet made hands. So, by checking and calling, you are missing out on bets when you have a better hand and still giving away bets when you're beat.By using the clark(bet and fold to a raise) you still gain value out of hands that will call your bet on the river with non-flush hands, but still lose the same to the better hands.EXCEPTIONS:1) If the player is very aggressive2) You have a hand you cannot fold to a raisehope that helps.

It does help, and it is very close to what I thought it was, except that I thought the sole intention was to get him to fold, not realizing that they MAY call with a worse hand than we do (why to the do that??? lol). Thanks.

Nicely played. In the face of passive opponents... it's generally good to keep betting... even when scary cards come.Assume your preflop standards are better than his (because they probably are) and if he's going to chase you down make him pay.

i hate it when people think the CT is to get better hands to fold.
i saw him at the riverbank. he was breaking bread and giving thanks. with crosses made of pipes and planks. leaned up against the nitrous tanks.
he said take a hit. hold your breath and i'll dunk your head. then when you wake up, you'll be high as hell and born again.
