Has anyone had a chance to read this book? I picked it up and thought it was a good read. It probably has little to offer for a seasoned poker player, but I think it serves well as an introduction to basic strategies in various forms of poker.The Author details the evolution of his poker career from a friendly home game player to a WTP finalist. He gives a brief introduction to EV and Game Theory. Matt Matros is a talented writer who offers a begining player a way to learn some advanced concepts. I would recommend reading it to any player and definatly recommend it novice players.

I'm also curious to see if anyone else has read this book and what they thought about it. I'm close to enough Pstars FPP points and I read Matros' poker journal every monday and always enjoy it.

I read the book and found it to be a good read. It's not a "how to" book but Matt does a good job in explaining his thoughts as he gets involved in different games and tourneys.You relive Matt's poker education and there's some stuff in there with Rosenblum that was interesting as well (his friend/mentor who was at the final WPT table with him at the Bellagio).

I just finished this book a few days ago. I agree with the other posters. It's a good read but it's not earth moving in its content.Personally, I thought the book got better the further I read. It was like he was getting his sea legs. If you skipped the first 100 pages, it wouldn't be a huge loss although there are a few good tips peppered throught those pages. (If I wasn't on vacation when I started reading the book, I might not have finished it)For aspiring players: I think Matt's game went to another level when he became involved with the 2 + 2 fourm and he found his mentor Russell. It seemes his game went up a level when he played with players that were better than he was(the lawyers game). (I think this is an importnat point. If you want to get better as a player find a mentor.) The best chapter in the book is the 2nd to last chapter "Televised Poker and Me." I think it very well written - an excellent blow by blow account. So if you spot this tome in a book store and have a few minutes to kill that's the chapter to read.
