A 9 or over would be bad.Undercards would be nice. Another 8 is your favorite card. A 5 would likely be alright as well. (I'm assuming you've put this guy on a steal. If he would only raise with real good cards, you should've folded preflop.)

I disagree. It's not real likely that the villain has a 9, so a 5 is a good card. I agree that undercards may not be good because there's a chance he has an overpair.Just because there are 2 clubs on the board doesn't mean that the villain has 2 clubs in his hand.

Hard to say without a read, but these thoughts came to mind:- Trying to keep control of the hand.- Thinks overcards are good.- Overpair- Underpair- Caught a piece with Ax.Depends on the opponent.

I see where you're going with it - but when I gave him good/bad cards, I was going with what I felt strongest that the villain had. What was it? Overcards.
