Paradise Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (8 handed) Call preflop with 88 in ep, raise the flop because BB had been betting his draws fairly regularly and utg was a total fish. sb is an extremly tight/passive player and his called worried me so i decided to fold turn UI, i didnt improve on the turn so i folded. Is my thinking way off here??Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with [8s], [8c]. nhsome people arent going to like your flop raise, but its good. and you have odds to call the flop 3bet and fold the turn UI.

Your thinking is sharp. Your raise is justified if your reads are correct. you would have folded this if the turn wasn't a diamond, right?

assuming you ment if it wasnt a diamond I would still probably fold because of SB a solid tight player (but prety passive) called two cold on the flop making me think he had at least a King. If the SB wasnt in and the turn wasnt i diamond i would definatley be raising or at least calling.also unrelated but should i be folding A10o UTG+2?

Do you want my response or Sklansky's 8)Sklandogg says if its a loose game limp w/ ATo, fold in a tight one.I like raising in a loose game if you have two folds in front of you. Otherwise I'd probably let it go.I hate limping with this kind of hand and this kind of position.

should one usually be raising first into the pot? sshe says to limp 77-99 in a tight game (like the ones i play on paradise) and any suited cards ten or higher and AJ. Also shouldn't it depend on the aggresiveness of the game also? if its passive you are more likely to see the flop for just one bet than if its an aggressive game.

Even if by some miracle 88 is still the best hand, you have to dodge a ton of cards twice to get it to hold up.No thanks.

6 handed? Where'd that come from? I need to pay more attention 8)It really depends on position as to whether or not you should raise first. I can't think of any situations to justify limping in late if it's been folded around to you; raise or fold. Same should be said for late middle. I'd be raising all of those hands you mentioned in those positions if it's folded to me; I'd be limping from early with them.And yes, aggressiveness is important. How tight are the games there? What % see the flop?
