...or is there something to this?OK, so a week ago today I joined PartyPoker and made an initial deposit of $100. I only played $.50/1 and $25 NL and was getting great hole cards and crushing the game. By Monday I had $340. Now? Rags. In the last 40 hands I've played, I had 3 decent sets of hole cards. The rest are J20, 460, 37o, etc.Think newbies get good cards when they sign up to get sucked in, or is this just a natural swing?I'm taking it in stride, btw. Just wondering what pop. opinion is about online sites. Thanks.

I am pretty sure you need quite a few more hours to judge if you are getting poo cards, plus you said 3/40 were descent so technically you weren't getting poo cards for 40 straight hands to even come up with the amazing and oh so clever conspiracy theory of . . . ONLINE POKER IS RIGGED

It's called variance.Think newbies get good cards when they sign up to get sucked in, or is this just a natural swing? It's that second one. When you cash out and get bad cards for a week, that's that second one too, contrary to what the tin foil hat crowd would like you to think. You really, honestly, sincerely, need to play AT LEAST 4000-5000 hands to have ANY IDEA AT ALL if you're beating the game or not. Even that's kinda small to get certain stats. There's a lot of luck in holdem.

Thanks guys.Btw, it was about an hour's worth of playing, and at such low stakes, I only lost like 5 bucks. I've only played about 300 hands so far, and I don't plan on moving up to $1/2 unless my bankroll increases to about $500-600.

You're being really paranoid. I played in a casino limit tournament on monday. I came in 16th out of about 70 players, probably got about 100 hands, maybe a little less. Thoughout this tournament, I got one pocket pair (33), one suited connector (78d), and AK off. Other people were getting AA 3 times, etc. You're being paranoid, online poker is not rigged, you'll see the same things at a B&M, although it'll take longer to see cause the pace is slower.
I'm not a professional poker player, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

I wasn't taking it that far, but thank you for the responses.
