I wouldn't bet the river. I can't think of anything else UTG would raise the turn with when the Q hits except A-10 for the straight or QQ for trips, both of which still beat you. They might have hit 2 pair, but if they did it's most likely QJ leaving you drawing to a 4 outer. KQ would've probably raised the flop. What do you do if you bet the river and get raised? you're almost certainly beat. Check/call river.

Are you saying you were going to fold to a raise?

pot's too big to fold here, I think, and you don't want to be putting in more money than you have to with not nearly the nuts. I think this goes in the "betting with a medium hand" category. check/call is probably best.

Actually, looking at this, you should probably fold the fold the flop with MPMK. If you decide to call, fold the turn when you're drawing to an A and that's about it. A 9 doesn't give you the nut straight, and a 10 probably makes someone else an A high straight. the J might fill up someone else, and it might not matter if they already have a straight. The only hand you're beating here that raises the turn is KQ, and that's unlikely as they would've raised the flop.

raise on the flopisolate the two players behind you and get heads up with position on the PF raiser who is betting this flop no matter what.raising the flop has a lot of merits. you likely get heads up in position, you clean up outs, and you probably get a free card.if he 3bets the flop call and fold the turn UI.
i saw him at the riverbank. he was breaking bread and giving thanks. with crosses made of pipes and planks. leaned up against the nitrous tanks.
he said take a hit. hold your breath and i'll dunk your head. then when you wake up, you'll be high as hell and born again.

Dragon: I seriously don't think that putting people on random junk hands just because they play .5/1 is a good idea. Actually, from what a lot of people have suggested, the level of players isn't much better at 1/2 or 2/4. Just assuming people have junk hands because the level they play is a horrible line of thinking and will cost you lots of money. What else raises on the turn when a Q hits? A-10, QQ, KQ and QJ, Q-8, and 9-10. All of which have you beat, all of which have you drawing slim. Raising the flop is fine, as it could get you HU with the SB. But if you get callers you should check/fold the turn UI as you're usually beat. J-10s is a suited connector...a drawing hand. Has high pair value, but you don't have high pair here. If you don't hit high pair you want either the straight or flush, and you have no good draws to either of these.

He might not fold (fish are dumb), but raising the flop prices him out nicely.Good point.

::winks:: I played a lot of .5/1 and 1/2 in my time. I'm not putting people on random junk, but I'm not giving them the same credit I give to players at higher limits. If you do, you're the one costing yourself money. Sit at those tables for awhile and count the 6 and 7 way pots you see....it's because they're coming in with, well, random junk. There's more of it at .5/1 than 1/2 than 2/4 than 3/6 than 5/10 than 10/20. Having played a fair bit of all of these limits, I've seen the change and noticed the difference. People who say all low limit games are the same don't know what they're talking about. But I did misread the hand at first. I thought hero raised preflop, and that clouded the rest of my initial post. Hence its deletion. :D

This is true. But certain low limit games are similar..25/.50 is a lot like .50/1 but in a different way that 1/2 is a lot like 2/4.They are all pretty similar still, especially on Party and other fishtank sites.I think the biggest jump is from 2/4 to 3/6 if we are talking low limits.3/6 is what I play currently and haven't dabbled in higher games so I can't speak to them. But I don't find that it is that much tricker than 1/2 or 2/4. Just a little.

I hate coming up with good ideas only to find that other people have already come up with it and posted them.Raise or fold the flop before you just call. That way you'll find out if the SB really has a king and it should price out the CO.
