Ok, here is the situation. Blinds are 300-600 and first position raises (knowingly he is a "jackyl") second position calls, and now it comes to me, i'm big blind. The raise is a meager 600 ontop of the big blind. I'm holding Q/4 off suit. If i make this call there will be 3,600 in the pot. Now comes my decision, i figure if i make this call and hit my hand on the flop, nobody can put me on the Q/4 and i can break both players for almost all of their bankroll, therefore making me look sort of like a genius. If i miss the flop, i can easitly get away from the hand. Keep in mind i am by far the big stack at the table at this point w/ about a 3-1 chip lead over the second chip stack. Anyway the flop comes 3,5,6 The original raiser bets 600 again, second position folds, and now i'm being laid some decent odds to call this bet to catch the backdoor straight, eventhough i might've been able to raise after putting him on two big cards. the turn comes a blank, he checks i bet out 1,200, he calls. The river comes a 7! ah, i hit my straight and now it's time to break him. He checks to me, and i decide to bet about half of his stack into him to try and induce an all in from him to break him, so i bet out 2,600, he moves in, i turn over the straight, and now everybody is left w/ their jaws on the floor. So this brings me to my question. Do you believe this was a wise move in my part when figuring in implied odds, that i could break my oponents when/if i make a hand? or should i have just let by big blind go to the raiser?

I think though this worked out well, it was not a good play on your part. I mean Q4, let's look at it. If you hit a Q, you have a pair of queens with a four kicker. So you'd be behind any queen and probably would be hoping to hit your kicker. You'd need four cards to a flush or a straight on the board, so even if you make a straight or a flush, you can still be beat, unless the AK of hearts were on the board. It worked out well for you, but I don't think it was a good play.

Do you believe this was a wise move in my part?Genius. I allways bet into a calling station on a four out draw.A wise move? No. Did it work out ok? Sure. How good are you going to feel about it the 9 times out of 10 that the river is usless to you and just spewed out 2000 chips or whatever?
