BB w/ 4d, 8d in a 20k guaranteed 20+2 rebuy tourney.I have about 2500 w/ blinds 50/100 and the mega chiplead of the table (10K) limps, I had seen him limp with marginal hands like Ax, K9, Q8 33, 44 ect.. there was a hand exactly like this one about 20 minutes before, that caused me to play the way I did..I checked BB after he limped w/ 24 caught two pair in a rag flop checked he checked a K fell the turn I bet he folded...so this came up later:PRE-FLOPUTG calls $100, everyone folds, takemycash9 checks.FLOP [board cards 2D,4S,5C ]takemycash9 checks, UTG bets $100, takemycash9 bets $300, UTG calls $200. I figured he probably has an ace, or pkt 3s..because I've seen him check/fold if he misses his overs, I hadnt seen him play a draw thoughTURN [board cards 2D,4S,5C,QD ]takemycash9 bets $400, UTG calls $400. now Im scared that he's slowplaying a set..RIVER [board cards 2D,4S,5C,QD,AD ]takemycash9 checks, UTG bets $500, takemycash9 calls $500.I check, thinking he has to have something that he will bet now, either a set an A or a str8..I check call..should I have pushed for the rest in?

I realize it's one of those hands you kind of backed into. I always have the most trouble with MTT's with those types of hands.In general, if you're going to spend money drawing to an 8-high flush, you need to be able to go all the way with it. What were you scared of on the end? A higher flush that he backdoored himself? That's the only thing that beats you.Sounds to me he was scared that you in the big blind might have been drawing at some goofy wheel. First to act, I definitely push it in on the river here. You can't risk a check/check on a hand in a pot this big.

If you are reasonably sure he will bet and call a raise, you should check/raise for a good amount.If you don't think he will call a raise but will call a bet, you should do the betting yourself so you can get the most possible.Your flush pwns.

I knew he was betting, either he caught an ace or a str8, but I just called because of the outside chance that he was holding a bigger flush...maybe I shouldve pushed all in, but I try not to put my stack at stake too often in a tourney.
