Ok, im not one to question my poker playing ability, i will always stand by decisions i have made but just recently i have questioned a few of them, and this latest bust out got to me somewhat.Im sitting at the final table of an MTT 10$ no limit.Theres 9 left im in MP and i call, no raise b4 the flop is seen, altho i have 88 in the pocket i want to see the flop cheaply and hopefully flop the set.And thus that is the case flop comes down 4 10 8 (two clubs) and i hold two red 8's.Im thinking of the move to make, when all of a sudden we r down to 3 players in the hand me included and 2 have gone all in b4 me, leaving me with a decision....Im not worried of the overpair as ive flopped the set, and surely any1 holding pocket 9-10 upwards would have made an initial raise b4 the flop hits. The only thing i can think is one of them has fallen in love with his top pair and that the other has risked it all on the Flush draw...So knowing i have one beat and the other on a possible Flush hit, is any1 in that position going to lay that down?Stacks for the three of us where fairly similar and the winner of the hand was going to hit the chip lead with the remaining 2 crippled. So i make the All in call much to my dismay, but i feel i have the best hand so i cant lay it down right??Both players turn over the flush Draw, one King high and the other Jack High, im in great shape, well for all of the 0.5 seconds it took for the turn to come down a club and bust me out....... im not complaining i may have went with the flush draw myself there, but from my point of view could i and should i have layed it down??Thx.

You only fold there if you hate money.

Easiest call in the world. Your opponents are fools, but it wasn't your night. With two flush draws out there, there odds are reduced greatly
Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

Difference in payouts??? I think that's the biggie in my book. If having one of them crippled and then bounced from the tourney would have meant a big increase in your payday it might have been worth a fold... IMHO.However, as you know, you are like a 4-1 fav against two players on the draw here, and better than that against just about anything else. And you are definitely gettin paid well. If you are playing to win (as you should be), I think in most cases it's an easy call.Tough beat, but I think the call was the right choice.

Well Cheers to CdddC and Vade for putting my mind (slightly) at rest over that one.And Bean the difference in $ was quite significant if i would have made the top 5, im talking 300 Dollar difference... and first 750 difference which is probably why i was pushing it so much.... Difference in moving up a couple of places was only around 50$ as it really hots up as i said b4 when hitting the top 5. :-)

The typical pay structure would warrant a call. If you were to work out the pot odds adjusting for tournament equity, there is clearly a point where it becomes a fold - that being when the difference between first and second pay is extremely small.

You can't fold a set on a flush draw and otherwise uncoordinated board with three people all in at the final table because of pay structure.Period.And nobody needs to tell me about satellite situations.

Right, im quite happy to take insults for Douche Comments and the like but that was just ridiculous. have you played me? or even sat and observed a table im sitting at?I know the answer to that question, so you keep your insecurity about being a fish to yourself.

If Smash aint joking, then I'm a tuna too.Only legitimate argument to folding is if your utility curve is so concave that "gauranteeing" and xtra $50 while reducing your chances at $1000 (whatever it was) feels good to you.

well the other question would be is this, what would be your chip stack relative to the other players at the table. if you are ahead of several other people, then folding might be correct because you can anticipate moving up into the better payouts. If you could post the entire payout structure and all of your opponents chip stacks that would make this question a bit eaiser to answer. And XXeddie, don't even comment on how you have to go for the win, payouts matter

I'll be spending most of the weekend with a woman who's probably my girlfriend, so I won't be needing my sense of humor. If you wanna rent it, I can probably get you a pretty good rate. I must warn you up front, however, that my sense of humor enjoys racial jokes and the occassional fart joke. I'm also Half-Brit, so it's pretty dry. PM me.Ice

Also, get your own identity. If you want to blow Juanda, go to Vegas and see if he's up for it. Otherwise, try being you for a while instead of some dude you've never met.
