i'd be interested to hear everyone's take on strategy for the early stages of a rebuy tourney. i don't have much experience with them, but i do know they really are a different animal. assuming you can rebuy with any amount below your original chip count, do any of you limp the first or second hand with trash so you can rebuy immediately? or do most of you play as solid as possible to capitalize on others wild mistakes?dave.

I NEVER rebuy (although I do add on). I play solid and use other peoples looseness to my advantage. Although sometimes they chase n hit miracle but that's ok, more times then not I gain chips, Sometimes I see people rebuy like 10 times, meh not my thing. If I do happen to lose early oh well, not my tourney.

it depends on the buy in relative to my bankroll...the last rebuy tourn i played was 3 or 4 bucks with rebuys... i was basically playing for fun. i busted the first hand because the pot was huge and i was gambling. i rebought, and ended up winning the thing for over 500 bucks.i like to gamble early if the rebuys are cheap, and hit a monster pot... eventually ya get paid, and are in good position to cruise into the final table.

The local tourney i play in has unlimited rebuys/add-ons for the first 30mins. I just fold everyhand until then, then I start playing poker.
